Last Wednesday, I upgraded to Sky Q from HD plus 2 multi-rooms.

To cut a long story short, I had a new dish and still have the old set-up. I want to give one of the boxes to a friends to replace his old one. Plugged in it to clear it down and everything still works so it appears to still be active.

If he tries to pair to a new card, will there be any issues and do I need to contact Sky?

Thanks.

There shouldn't be any problems, just pair it online at http://activatemychannels.sky.com/activate

Or just connect the box to the internet and do a "new install" - it gives the option to pair card near the end. New install is found in hidden menu - Services, 0, 0, 1, Select.

...or just switch to a pay channel and you'll get a prompt to pair the card.

You need to be connected to the internet.

How did you manage to keep your 2 Sky HD boxes and cards whilst getting a Q box? I understood that Sky will not let you have both accounts.

The Sky+HD boxes are your property so you are entitled to keep them.

Sky Q requires a viewing card starting with either an 8 or 9 for full functionality to work therefore customers with older viewing cards will receive new ones when upgrading. Sky dont ask for the old ones back and they remain active for a short period after your Sky Q install.
