A market for old Mobiles phones?

Has anyone, who owns their phones and subsequently replaced them, with a new one ever tried to sell the old ones for cash?
I have a 5 year old HTC Desire S locked to O2 and see, from the internet, that I could expect to get only a few pounds at the most, for it. The phone's in perfect working order but of course it's old technology, relatively speaking.
There are a couple of High St shops in my town who have shops which buy old equipment so I'll try them otherwise put it in with the garbage.

No I have never been able to sell any. There was a kiosk in a local mall, that takes old phones for cash, but it wouldn't take mine for anything other than recycling ( free). I have also seen collection boxes at Church so I did donate one.

Depends on the model. An HTC Desire probably won't count.

Particularly old computers and old phones are enjoying a bit of a resurgence in popularity as people look to reacquire what they once had.

Don't throw that old Amiga away, you might get £200 for it on eBay if it works. Same for the older brick phones (I mean real bricks, not that 10 year old Nokia), especially if it is a GSM phone that can still be used today.

If the likes of Cex won't give you a few quid for it, consider donating it to one of the charities that finds a use for them.

Don't dump it in with your general waste, that's just insane. If you can't get much for it, it will be far better to recycle it. Mazuma etc will still happily recycle it for you even if they can't offer any monetary value.

I've just checked for you and CeX will give you £15 for it.

I'm coming around to the idea of re-using at the moment. I've got a Vodafone SIM that I don't use for anything other than keeping an eye on the network locally and I put it in my original HTC One M7 last week.

I've been taken aback by what a lovely phone it was (is?). It feels much better quality than so many current phones, is the perfect size (for me) and even feels damned quick in use. Having said that, it doesn't have many apps loaded at the moment. I still think the design is great, and the cell reception and sound quality for calls is top notch.

It's had more Android updates in the last week than my Honor 7 has in the last year.

But it has been switched off for a long time..

I'm seriously considering using it as my daily driver for a while....

Thanks. Took it into a Gaming shop today and after testing they gave me £15 after going online and doing a price match possibly with CeX!

Some older phones may be recycles for third world countries where there is a lack of 3g or 4g and the main function is the old wap browser.
