I finally managed to try soft shell crab this weekend, I had it as a starter in an Indian restaurant we went to on Saturday night, it was very nice indeed.

Do you just eat the whole thing? Is it cleaned first (gutted) or do they just put it straight in the pot?

I'm not sure what the preparation is, but I ate the whole thing when I had it.

It came as a whole thing and you ate it all. Apparently they take out the gills and abdomen. It was nice anyway.

I've had it in the Far East and found it pretty tasty.

One shellfish I haven't tried yet is goose barnacles. I'd give them a go if I saw them on a menu anywhere.

Wet polenta or dried,fried, truffles.

Any veggie food without too much oil tbh. Spiced - even better!

I had it on Long Island a fair few times. It looked to me like they just scissored the 'face' off and then battered and fried it.
