Just 11 days until Kirk reaches his hundredth birthday. Undoubtedly a major star in his day so let's hope he makes it.

I think he will make it now, although i don't think he will be around this time next year as he unsurprisingly considering his age appears to be in a bad health, he looks to have declined quite significantly recently.

Also it is 70 days until Zsa Zsa Gabor reaches 100 years of age too i think she is much more likely to die before she reaches the milestone considering her health though she has been like this for years so who knows?

Yes, good movie. I'd also recommend Ace in the Hole and Paths of Glory. And The Vikings is an entertaining way to pass some time.

Hope he makes it to 100 like his old pal Olivia de Havilland.

One of his best roles was as a ruthless film director in The Bad and The Beautiful opposite Lana Turner, who also gave one of her best performances.

Apparently not a nice guy if some rumours are believed.

I was reading the other day that her lavish house was used as Liberace's House in the recent film, Behind the Candelabra, starring of course Michael, Kirk's son as Liberace! She hired it out, while she remained in another wing in order to pay her medical bills! She's extremely frail, but being well looked after!

No. It' old style gung-ho 'culture' by numbers with every third line a quotable quote and somehow significant'. Plus it was done so long ago that it was all filmed in studios which to our eyes, accustomed to steadicams etc, looks horribly fake and old-fashioned. And it will tell you nothing about Van Gogh, only Van Gogh seen through the eyes of some hack Hollywood director and his producers.

Another great performance was in Ace In The Hole as an unscrupulous reporter who prolongs a life or death mine story so he can get a good story.

Not sure why reaching 100 will be such a great thing for him to be fair. Last time I saw him his skin was so translucent he looked like a hologram. It wasn't nice to see his apparent state of health.

Yeah, he doesn't exactly look good for his age. I'm just wondering if he's had too much 'help' and that's the reason why he doesn't look good.

I'm aware of one of the rumours but the other person in the story died far too young in suspicious circumstances (unconnected with him, btw).

With all of the celebrities who have died this year, it's clear that Douglas is taking their essence to prolong his life ..

He'll live to be 300, just you wait

You've not actually seen the film have you ? Yes, there was a degree of studio work, of course, but a lot of it was shot on location in the actual towns where Vincent lived:

France - Arles, Auvers-sur-Oise, Bouches du Rhone
Holland - Nuenen, s'Graavenhague (The Hague)
Belgium - Borinage, Wasemes, Grand Hornu

Plus I wouldn't call Vincente Minnelli (and an uncredited George Cukor) a hack director. The film, btw, was based on Irving Stone's book of the same name, which in turn was based on the letter of Vincent and his brother Theo,
