There are rumours that he raped a late teenage actress and former child star who died in tragic circumstances in 1981.

I doubt that very much because I watched a documentary on her only last week which said that at just 17, she was having an affair with the director of her first big film as an adult actress, as well as one of her co stars.

She was a great favourite of mine, but I wasn't surprised to hear that she was sexually active from quite a young age. So if she did have an encounter with Kirk, it seems unlikely that she was quite as innocent as her sister likes to make out

Walter, I love your posts. Please, though; this sort of attitude is indicative of victim blaming. Just because a woman is sexually active/adventurous does not mean that she always consents to sex. It is more than feasible that Douglas raped her. I know you are of a different generation to most posters on here but I hope attitudes can progress so that a woman's sexual history becomes irrelevant in rape cases. It's very depressing

Pru, I do agree with you regarding the fact, because a woman is sexually active, in no way means she couldn't have been raped.
When I replied to Walter about this comment, I guess I chose to over looked that point simply because I find Walter utterly fascinating & as you say, of a different generation.

Sorry, I really didn't mean for it to sound the way it did. I just don't believe the rape story which the late stars sister has been on about for years. I am sure that if there had been anything in it, her husband who she married twice, would certainly have known about it, and I don't recall him ever mentioning it in his memoirs.

I think Walter is right up there in the most insightful and interesting posters on DS.
He is 'Simply the best.........better than all the rest'.
Well, thank you so much, I hope that you will join our other thread in the Movie Forum, it is the second longest in there.

Many allegations made against him over the years. Believe he's a nasty piece of work and has many injunctions etc so save his sorry arse whilst he's still alive. Not many old time actresses will mourn his passing. It'll all come out in the wash, watch this space.
Yup. I very much doubt that the actress in question was the only victim.

And this, yet again shows why I always click on any posts I see from you, Walter.
I imagine you've lost count of the FMs who've said you must write a book!

I have a feeling I'm going to add "hunt Walter down & spend a day listening to him tell me his life story" to my bucket list.
I couldn't care less if this sounds 'crawly' I am in awe of you, even at 80 years old, you're living life to the absolute maximum.
Your family must be amazingly proud of you.
I honestly don't have the time or inclination to write a book, and while I might be able to make my memories sound interesting in here, I don't think that I am good enough to put them into a book. I would be better off writing for a nostalgia magazine, if I could find someone interested enough to offer me the job.

As for my life story, well, I think that everyone has a story to tell if they have lived as long as I have.

With my family, I only have my brother and my cousins, they tell me that they are proud of me, as do my friends.

If you have seen the newspaper article you will know my real name, and I am on Facebook under that name, where you can see all the wonderful support that I get from my friends.

Walter, I really hope you don't think I was being patronising re my generation gap comment, God forbid.

My point was simply based on the fact, my Dad is a few years older than you & at times says things I don't agree with but because we are of a different generation & I have the utmost respect for him, I accept we may see things differently.

Please, don't worry about it, it is just unfortunate that a thread created to celebrate Kirk's Centenary had to change so unexpectedly.

You will never miss any movie news if you check our other thread regularly. Even I haven't heard of some of some of the names who's deaths are mentioned in there.

The thread was created by Hilda 2.1/2 years ago, and we have had over 140.000 views.
What's the thread called, Walter? I love reading about old Hollywood stars and I enjoy your posts too.
