Yet again a series twist that will end up being a complete failure, like the 2 houses this year. Just do a normal series with great housemates and zero manipulation it's that simple.
![]() How long will this mighty 'twist' work I wonder - a week or so before the producers and viewers alike realise they're not connected at all, just randoms who invented a 'dramatic' story to get on the show (like fish lips and that other guy - forget names) last time?

Big Brother are trying something different, they are obviously desperate for ratings, and concerned about the amount of viewers that have watched the show.

Ratings have been sliding for years and even once upon a time diehards like myself have left the show now. |

It could be a case of the Big Brother producers fail to get many people wanting to be on Big Brother any more any and it's just a lot of serial audition reject returners.
If they get all the desperate to be on TV types to drag along someone else who turns out to be someone the audience wants to watch it's a win for everyone. Some people were saying the Jungle cast were a bit too friendly and dull and they wanted more speaking out. So maybe the producers are wanting Either - Some people who will be happy to disagree with family, it's what Jeremy Kyle seems to be about. Or - People will speak up more if it's to protect their family member or close friend. Maybe producers are hoping the disagreements will be more natural and not need to constantly think of ways to stir as they have clearly run out. |

The problem when its random pairs is if you really like one but really hate the other !
And as I said, the pairs never go up together, they have to decide amongst themselves who to sacrifice for the better chance of staying. But I do understand, there were a couple of pairs which I really liked one and didn't like the other. |

It was only for half the series though and then they split.

I dont know why theres so much negativity about this? At least its something new, give it a chance first. It'll probably be more interesting than the snoozefest "im a celeb" which is even more predictable than big brother
BB's desperation to avoid being a "snoozefest" (aka fear of "another bb4") is a big part of its problem. |

Couple of points occurred to me when reading the app page above - I notice that there are no open auditions this time and also it says that whilst you apply as a pair they may consider them individually

I haven't seen the Italian BB where the strangers were paired.
I can't see why families are that important unless it's to appeal to some different viewers who want a mix of ages. You have to be quite close to your 'family' pair to apply they want photos and videos of you applying together, it's not as if they are trying to reunite ex's or estranged people. To me it just sounds a bit like Coach Trip but with added emphasis on the 'family' link. Coach Trip occasionally had a couple of strangers and paired them. I don't mind pairs on that, I think if Coach Trip went to singles only I think it wouldn't work the same. |

They'll probably split the pairs up in two separate houses then forget about it a week after again

Everyone should be eligible for ordinary big brother, yet another twist that will land on its bum.

Jack & Joe, Jackie & Charlie, Sally and Amy, the BB17 twins.
Yes, Channel 5 have a great track record of selecting interesting, memorable, dynamic pairs to go in together. Something tells me this isn't going to work. It's hard enough to get decent housemates as it is, never mind a duo where they are both interesting enough to warrant a place in the house! |
