How and why would Jack have the deeds to Ronnie and Roxy's house anyway

I agree it doesn't make sense for him to have them but it was clearly stated last night that he did.

As I said in my first post, I thonk that is what happened based on what we saw on screen. If the ref was his firm then clearly it was his wages and the figure would make more sense for that,but why did he tell Whitney he wasn't being paid for a week and why make such a big deal about the jackets being mixed up with the deeds in one of them.

Time will tell, probably on only weeks because they'll chase Jack, Ronnie or Roxy for payment.

i watched the episode again and froze when his phone came on its from elge which is the company that lee works in not a loan taking out on ronnie house

I was quite impressed last week when Whitney had a go at him for not being at work and he came up with the lie about the Christmas presents. AND then he managed to give her one, which was all she was after! Respect to Lee for having the nous to come up with such a good cover story so quickly.

I know he's lying all the time but I understand why with those lies, I don't understand this one. Unless it is to stop her spending so much?

I do think.it is very strange that they had the jacket swap, complete with deeds, if it wasn't leading somewhere.

I've stopped 'feeling' the depression in Lee over the last few days Kat. He's coming over as sharp and calculating...he even looked smug for a second last night. And where are the pangs of guilt for the way he's deceiving those around him.

No. If I was defending her, I'd say she deserves to sit back, relax, and expect to be spoiled by Lee. What I'm trying to say is that Lee has a part in this of his own making. I've known a few guys who for whatever reasons (ego, macho image) buy into the idea that they should "look after" their other half. The situation would be fixed if Lee told her the truth. Other women in the square don't seem to do much in the way of employment, like Ronnie, Kim, Sharon. We assume it's because their husbands earn enough that they don't have to, or with Ronnie and Kim they have small children to look after. For some people this seems very old-fashioned but many couples have this dynamic and function happily within it.

Whitney did say something the other night about being late for her shift at The Vic but they must be few and far between.

I think.the other women are rather different in that they are or have been business owners and managers and rather successful ones.

Yes,Sharon sold The Albert but she was managing it until then and still might be as an employee of Vincents. There is also a good chance that she has been hands on with Phil's businesses (the books at the Arches as one example)as he has been incapable for nearly a year. She's also quite busy with. Looking after him and the kids plus she also does shifts in The Vic.

Have we been told that Ronnie isn't still running the Gym and there is also R&R which might not be seen but I assume still exists. She also has 3 kids to look after.

Lauren manages a baby, work and helping to look after Jane. Abi still worked (2 jobs in fact) when with Ben. Stacey has kids and seemed to be at Elysium a fair amount. Honey works full time with kids.

The only one that has shown any sign of thinking that they shouldn't have to work because they have a husband is Kim and she's had years of demonstrating that she is intrinsically lazy who wants the prestige of being a business owner whilst expecting others to do all the actual work.

The problem with Whitney the past few months is that she was only given minimal shifts at The Vic as a favour from Mick and Linda (they didn't really need extra help) when she lost her Nursery job and it was meant to be short term measure. But not only has she not looked for anything else, she seems to spend most of her time not there and spending money (or wanting to spend money) on the wedding, flat, nights out, dresses,expensive food to cook. And this was happening when Lee was on the fish stall and she knew he was earning a pittance.

Also, when she was living at The Vic she didn't even do the housework in their bedroom as Linda referenced making their bed. Granted that was probably more to do with Linda being quite controlling than Whitney being unwilling but it hasn't helped how she's come across.

So, she's the only woman that appears to not do much work (it does seem to just be a couple of evening shifts), either with a job, or raising kids, or both.

It can't be commission only as his boss said he was docking the days sick pay for the wedding and obviously he wouldn't have made any sales to get commission on that day. Unless he just meant the SSP of course.

I'd say that he is on a base rate of minimum wage with commission on top. Assuming a working week of 40 hours, minimum wage woukd be about 800 quid after tax wouldn't it?

He could not have the deeds, he was talking about paying mortgage, as long as the house is not paid off, the deeds would be with the mortgage company.

They've probably used the wrong term to try and make it more understandable. I think the idea they were trying to get across was that it was proof of ownership, along with the bank, of the house to put it on the market.

Though given his name wouldn't be on them, not sure what it would prove. Unless of course, they've changed the names on the mortgage and at Land Registry since they reconciled which is possible.

Both Lee and Whitney are behaving like idiots, Lee in not manning up and telling the truth that they cannot afford the things Whitney wants and Whitney for wanting to live beyond their means, she is supposed to have wanted independence from Mick and Linda but has done nothing to help gain that independence she expects Lee to do it all, both come across as very immature and need to grow up.
