Amazon Fire TV SmartDNS problem
Howdy,
Noticed recently that despite using either Overplay or Getflix's smartdns settings my Amazon Fire TV is detecting I'm not in the UK and only showing "watch abroad" titles, wondering if anyone else had experienced the same and found a solution? Couldn't find anything on either site on how to fix it yet

SmartDNS entered directly into the Fire TV.
Getflix/Overplay both support Amazon Prime UK and it's set to UK with both. Unfortunately the DIR 645 doesn't allow for static routes and the like in its official firmware. |

Thanks for the reply, yes that's already done and it used to work but I guess Amazon changed something, I dropped Emails to both Overplay and Getflix so working through their questions/suggestions etc, I think it's likely I have to set up static routes to block all the public DNS similar as was needed to get more stability with Net***x's smartDNS, for which I'll need to use DD-WRT or similar, would prefer not to as I've had problems in the past using it with another router.
Edit: One strange comment from Overplay I forgot to mention "Sadly Amazon prime UK is not supported on FireTV", no idea what that's about considering the Amazon Fire TV has been on sale in the UK since October 2014 (I actually imported mine from the USA to Sweden). Edit2: Now I remember why I didn't use DD-WRT before now, there's no version for the Dlink DIR-645

Just logged into my router and noticed I'm using Swedish ISP's DNS setting, perhaps that's not so smart! I've set it now to be a static connection with Getflix's DNS and I'll try again, apparently Overplay don't support Amazon Prime via Amazon Prime TV sadly.

So finally got it sorted, tried OpenWrt but it was a real chore to get everything working that I needed (including port forwarding I needed for various things), whilst googling around to try to get all that stuff sorted I came across a Unotelly guide on how to block Google and other free DNS at the router level on the manufacturer's DLink firmware which worked perfectly, can now view UK content on my Amazon Fire TV no problem!
