I'm a fan of Lisa Kudrow, but even I can admit that she isn't always that great when it comes to acting. She was quite bad for breaking character on the show. I remember her laughing at inappropriate times. She's better in The Comeback. I like both Friends and Seinfeld. I'm not dumb or uneducated. I simply grew up watching Friends and it's a bit of a comfort show. |

You are making yourself out of it a real nasty piece of work by calling other people stupid I thought intelligent people were meant to be better than that. |

To answer the OP, yes I've noticed this. I usually come to the forums via the main page & have a quick glance. I see a "Friends" story every other day. Most of which seem pretty irrelevant.
There also seems to be a large number of "Everything You Need to Know" & "x amount of things you didn't know about <insert subject>" type articles too, which are usually things I don't need to know or already know & the articles very rarely have any new information. It's a shame, I think. The DS homepage was once a great source of news/articles spanning various forms of entertainment. Now it seems to be a plethora of rehashed drivel & annoying GIFs (in my opinion). |

It is possible to enjoy both friends and seinfeld. I have watched friends twice but am not sure I would want to watch it again as it seems to have dated. Seinfeld I have watched five times and doubt I will ever get bored of watching again and again. For me seinfeld does not date. It is different to all other comedies and there will never be anything quite like it again. It started off small and was allowed to grow and develop and become something unique. Hopefully more people will discover this gem in the future.

I never got why Friends was so popular to be honest. I like my sitcoms but i never took to this show at all. I just don't get why it's seen as the god of all sitcoms.

But sitcoms such as Everybody Loves Raymond did the same for some time. Or Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld etc. People like different things... |

Friends was 'the one that other people go on about' when it was first airing in the UK for me. Then caught a repeat when channel surfing once (think it was the one where Monica's got a really heavy cold yet is still giving Chandler the come on) and despite not knowing who the hell everybody was it made me smile....so watched the last series as it aired and worked things out from there.
I like it. Not as much as Seinfeld (Season 4 is particularly fantastic) or Frasier or Cheers or maybe Taxi, but I'd say it's definitely top half of my US Sitcom Premiership Division....which I've, um, just invented. |

I've got family that watch it pretty often and I never understood the hype myself. My main problem is how every single one of the "friends" are either dumb and shallow or just shallow. Basically all of them seem completely wrapped up in themselves and their clique... it's like any of them had no clue how to interact with anyone that didn't fit into their twenty something, yuppie clique.
There were times where I thought there might be something a little more to the Ross character that seperated him from his moronic friends, but then there were episodes that proved he was just as dumb and shallow as the rest of them (like that ep where he is dating one of his students and doesn't really see anything wrong or inappropriate with it) Other American sitcoms make it clear that we are supposed to be laughing more at dumb characters like the friends, but it seemed like the characters wanted us to identify with these airheads. |

The fangirling over Friends (and Little Mix for that matter) on the site is so grating. At this point I suspect nobody really gives a crap about a show that has been off the air for the last 12 years.
