With Ronnie/Roxy being axed, Peggy gone and Phil on his deathbed, is it time to introduce new Mitchell's?

At the moment there are too many young Mitchell's in Ben, Jay and Louis, Dennis, Amy etc the show is lacking an adult Mitchell who can possible take over the pub from the awful Carter family.

The show should introduce Harry and Charlie Mitchell, and possibly one of Clive or Elaine too. Potentially Clive could be the new Archie? An intimidating character, which the show lacks at the moment.

The last time they were mentioned was when Clive said to Peggy that they were both worse than Phil and Grant, instantly showing potential. As long as the casting is right, I think now is the time to introduce them.

The Mitchells would benefit from Phil being written out for a year, and Sharon & Kathy heading up a family unit of Ben, Jay, Louise and Dennis. It's clear that Phil is proving to be a toxic influence on those around him, and that the character is growing increasingly tired. A long break would do him good, and it would give Sharon and Ben a chance to shine in his absence.

If they're going to introduce any more 'Mitchells' I'd like to see a long term girlfriend for Jay, and perhaps a boyfriend for Ben. No more long-lost cousins.

I'm sick of the Mitchell's being regenerated with new long lost family members being introduced every few years. No other EE family receives this treatment. I'd rather no new relatives appeared and any new characters introduced had no connection to the Mitchells, there enough of them already. Its a bit like the Dingles on Emmerdale or the McQueens on Hollyoaks. Enough is enough.

It's a shame Jamie died he could've taken Phil's place as head of the Mitchells.

Please no more Mitchell's.😵 Besides a name doesn't make somebody a good character. A new family would be better... we've lost the Masoods and Slaters in the last couple of years.

The only problem with the Mitchells is Phil. The character is played out and is poison to those around him. I just don't buy him being so loved by the family they're all having nervous breakdowns about the possibility of his long overdue death. He's terrorised and abused each and every one of them!

Billy - The runt of the litter in Phil's and Peggy's own words. What's to miss? The verbal abuse, the bullying, the humiliation? Puh-leeeeeze!

Ben - Resents you for being gay, mentally abused you, stripped you naked and left you to walk home, cut you out of his will despite you offering him part of your liver! Come on!

Sharon - Look at yourself, woman. You used to be something! Now you're Phil's chief apologist even though he killed your last husband (kind of), had you beaten to a pulp, cheated on you, cut you out of his will and is turning your son into a thug. Get a clue!

Louise - Drove your mother to near suicide! P.S. You barely know him!

Dennis - Will someone please tell that kid Phil got his dad killed?

Ronnie - Totally get why she's bothered. She's the only Mitchell who's come close to being as vile as Phil. If he dies, she takes the crown.

I won't mention Roxy since she only cares about herself and probably hasn't noticed Phil is dying, the selfish cow.

Jay is the only Mitchell glad the evil prick is dying.

Also Phil nearly killed Louise (I know it was accident) this year as well.

I'm hoping Lisa returns just like she did in 2003:

Look what happened last time a new family was introduced - the Carters, they are rubbish, I would prefer building on a current family which already has an identity like the Mitchell's rather than a new family, which rarely works out and are usually axed within a couple of years.

I prefer the Carters but I do like Billy and Honey. I'm glad they're being used more. Phil is burnt out, has been for quite a while.

Do we really need more Mitchells? I think the numbers are fine but we'll see when Ronnie and Roxy leave EastEnders.

I wouldn't be adverse to new Mitchells but they would need to introduce Phil's uncle, Clive Mitchell and his children/grandchildren if they want more Mitchell members. Ronnie and Roxy became successful characters in their own right and I knew they would be well-received by viewers when I heard about the casting news in 2007.

EastEnders existed before the invention of the Mitchells and will survive when they're gone. I don't dislike them all, and there have been decent and downright awful actors among them.

Steve McFadden who plays Philth can act I will admit and is one of the most consistent performers on the show, his character is, however, completely washed out and is on a constant repeat cycle, it's irritating and boring in the extreme and is time for him to die.

Ronnie and Roxy - Although I like Ronnie and will miss her, the character has pretty much got away with enough and Roxy was nothing more than "tart with a heart" character from the beginning and quite frankly the type of person I avoid at all costs. I won't be that bothered when they are gone.

For me the Mitchells that are a wee bit interesting are Ben (A Beale in my eyes), Jay (Never was a true Mitchell) and Courtney (Who seemed able to see the Mitchells for what they are playground bullies).

Sharon is a Watts and will always be

The rest can do one as far as I'm concerned

EDIT: Billy as long as Honey is around is fine and quite interesting.

Thanks

Kim Medcalfs Sam Mitchell should return .
Erase all the horrendous work done on the character by Westbrook and those Santer/Birkwood nincompoops.

Good post.

Why do so many people care about this repulsive pile of human excrement?

Many truly good people die all alone and forgotten.

For whatever reason the millions of Eleanor Rigby's of the world simply ache for human contact before they pass.

But total bastards like the Philth have everyone falling all over themselves to look after them.

Perhaps it is realistic after all.

Nobody ever said the world was good or fair (apart from the followers of the Bronze age desert psychopath) it just is.

"In the Green Machine there is no mercy; we make mercy, manufacture it in parts that have overgrown our basic reptile brain. There is no murder. We make murder, and it matters only to us."

"Now, drifting between memory and narcotic sleep, he saw Shiloh was not sinister; it was indifferent. Beautiful Shiloh could witness anything. Its unforgivable beauty simply underscored the indifference of nature, the Green Machine.

Yes, he had been wrong about Shiloh. Shiloh isn’t haunted – men are haunted. Shiloh doesn’t care."
