I have 2 old Sky boxes. One is a relic, the other would still probably work. Charity shop won't take either. I don't want to bin them as they'll end up on landfill.
Is there any way environmentally friendly way to get rid of them? The one that might work might get a taker on freecycle, but the other def not. Council don't do old tech collections.

If you can't find some mug to slip you a fiver to take them off your hands (or even worse you slip them a fiver! ) then the only option is a trip down to your local recycling centre. Then pile them up in the bin with all the other unwanted tellies and STBs.

Most household refuse sites (aka local tip) usually have specific bins for electrical goods which get sorted and recycled accordingly, so they don't end up as landfill.

My local site does and small electrical appliances like microwaves, kettles, DVD players old printers etc all end up going in one skip.

TVs are handled separately presumably because of either the CRT or LCD screen.

thanks! My local recycling dump is a long way from here. I did find this, but how I get 2 Sky boxes into a box or bag remains to be seen!

I'd wrap it in bubble wrap and then either brown paper or a black bin bag with brown tape.

finally a use for the rubbish "plant fleece bubble wrap" I bought recently.
Pity Sky don't send you nice Sky bags. A bin bag it is then. Hope the PO don't have rules on what packages can look like!
thanks for the suggestion

To be fair, they're providing you the postage label. I guess their assumption - not totally unreasonable - is that if you've received some new kit it probably came in a box which you could use to return an old item in.

If you use a bin bag 'wrapped' around so it's like black polythene, you should be fine - I've had plenty of things delivered wrapped in just such a way over the years.
