9.30pm for EE?! I'm starting to wonder if the BBC really are trying to kill the show off!

I'm surprised that it's a full hour rather than a half at 9:30. Wonder what's going to happen in the episode which makes it after the watershed?

I don't think it's anything to do with the content. It's more a reflection of how crowded the Christmas Day schedule is (mostly due to the Bake Off special being on).

Is the watershed an hour later on Xmas day then?

Yes, also don't forget that all of the 'big three' soaps have to air on Christmas Day, and each of them are 1 hour long. There can't be any clashes, and EastEnders is usually last every year in the schedule, it normally airs around 9 ish (give or take half an hour) every year

Yeah that's true. I was expecting half an hour between emmerdale and Corrie and then one at 9 so I'm surprised!

Who on earth would they schedule an hour-long EastEnders at 9.30?

EE has strong competition that night against "Maigret" - the older viewers will stay with that programme and I have a horrible feeling, EE could miss the top 10. I think placed 11th - 13th is it's destiny. Unless we see a turnaround during December, I have no idea where the big storylines are going to come from and it's rumoured last nights dud of an episode haemorrhaged a lot of viewers as the show opposite it on ITV1 got 4m!

I would say Emmerdale could maintain it's status as their slot is perfect. What have they got lined up for Christmas out of interest?

Xmas Day scheduling is very hard to manage.

As mentioned, neither ITV or the BBC want the soaps to clash and there is an hour of each of them. BBC1 also has Doctor Who, usually a competition/entertainment show like Strictly Come Dancing or Bake Off, cosy drama like Call the Midwife and a longer comedy show as well as the News to fit in.

So its not that EE has to be particuarky 'hard hitting' to warrant a post watershed slot, it just needs to be the hardest of the shows for that evening and given the nature of the others, it will be. I mean, which is more likely to have upsetting content - EE or Doctor Who or Bake Off?

Someone said the other day that Ee was gonna be on at half 9 and I thought it was ridiculous because they normally air Mrs Browns boys around then and they usually get a big rating!

considering its an early evening soap showing it at half 9 is silly and I would rather they aired Casualty and had Eastenders on another day

Found this.. http://ukchristmastv.weebly.com/bbc-2016.html

It says confirmed schedules are due on 30th.

DS has this up http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/feature...vies-listings/
so when you compare the two there is citizen khan and Ee to fit in. Scrap EE being on I say

Quite excited for frozen being on cos I haven't actually seen it yet and wondered if it would be on

No Emmerdale on Christmas Eve and a poor early start on Christmas Day. Disappointing

Might be due to upsetting scenes, or content A death? Violence?

Thank you for this info. I am surprised about Corrie and Eastenders on Christmas Eve, as this will be a Saturday.
