The attention to detail lately has been awful! "Snap me back!" Louise on Snapchat when it was her camera.... The directing is amateur, the midnight band would have been believable on Christmas Eve, not on a Monday night in November. Sharon and the marigold and also the music drowning out dialogue!

DTC mase his mistakes but his episodes were always clever, from directing, right through to props and backgrounds... Anyone who thinks SOC is helping the show in anyway shape or form is deluded! What frightens me even more is that it was DTC who said he wanted to find the right guy for the job and said that SOC will do great things for the show...

Surely this is bothering others? Only edgy thing I have seen SOC do is have Jay steal a ring from a dead corpse... SOC is IMO lives in the dark ages and this will be fatal for EastEnders

Here we go again...

1. Treadwell-Collins wouldn't have had a say in who became next EP. That was egotistical nonsense. The decision would've been made by Charlotte Moore and Polly Hill at the time.

2. Most of us have no idea what snapchat even is, let alone get het up about it.

3. I think last night's episode was supposed to air on a Friday. Hence the late night carol singers.

4. You'll have to expand on how DTC was "always clever, from directing, right through to props and backgrounds". What props and background? And most of the writing and directing team are the same as the ones Treadwell-Collins used.

1) Yes he was egotistical at the best of times, I do not dispute that. I do however believe that DTC was very well liked by a lot of the cast and crew, it is not foolish to assume that he would have threw out suggestions for his successor....

2) Please tell me that was a joke? It is one of the biggest apps in the world...

3) Perhaps, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was supposed to be a Monday night given the careless mistakes and errors being made over the past couple of weeks. Almost every episode feels sub-standard without much care, accuracy or boldness being given.

4) Again, is this a joke? The majority of production is very different from DTCs era. I suggest you rewatch old episodes from DTCs tenure to see that. A new team comes in each time a new producer is appointed. The recent duff duffs are actually embarrassing.

As for the "here we to again" this is a soap forum, my opinion is just as relevant as yours. There is no denying that the soap is lagging behind the others. Better character development and scripts are all well and good but if the storylines and quality of directing and continuity are not good then the show hasn't got much going on which atm is what EastEnders is experiencing.

EE is lacking and recently I've been debating watching it if I miss it I don't care about catching up.

I did notice that it wasn't Snapchat! I noticed the band as well, even though it was after mifnight, would Robbie and Roxy as well as jack be awake? Not even ready for bed, and quite a few people walking through the SQ so late on a cold November night!

I think DTC plots were over the top, and poorly executed, I like how SOC is building up characters, group ect, and I hope to god Ronnie and Roxy's exits are EE classic!

They were and are both awful producers, and SOC's incompetence shows at every level of the program. A lot of the dialogue recently has been absolutely atrocious:

"I'll make my specialty"... * point and gurn at eachother for 5 seconds* "DUCK LASAGNE!!!!"

"Go and get your games console"... "Cushty"

But jcotter at least we have the gripping bin plot. If that doesn't win a BAFTA then it will be an injustice!

.
You said props and backgrounds were different, how? The duffs duffs arent background or props, are they?

And the likes of Alex Lamb is still credited as story producer - so O'Connor hasn't brought in his own team just yet.

This is your opinion and as you have chosen to start yet another thread on basically "what is currently wrong " you will get people role their eyes and think "here we again" you say we need better character development yet character development seems to be the only current focus, how much more do you want? However I do agree that EE is lagging behind in storyline development particularly for the Xmas build up.
Oh and I think there are plenty people out there who do not use and have no desire how to use snap chat!

If you had of read properly then you would have seen that nowhere do I aim negativity towards character development, in fact I actually compliment it.... The Snapchat thing might sound minor, but do the people in charge of EastEnders really think we are naive when it comes to social media? Considering 16-31 year olds are the main demographic who watch EastEnders, of course it was going to be noticed. Sean O'Connor's vision is not that of a modern one like DTCs who was more savy with dialogue and topics referenced. This is my opinion, but it is how I see it.

In what way was Treadwell-Collins more "savy" with the dialogue and 'topics' (I assume you mean apps by this) than O'Connor?

The attention to detail is one of the positives of the show, like tonight for example with Phil on a ward with other patients (how often does that happen?) and Stacey and Lauren talking about the decorating and Mick putting up the Christmas decs. You can't fault SOC for stuff like this.

TBH, I assumed - as I really wasn't looking at Louise's phone - that they were using a knock-off chat programme in EE; like in the show people use "MatesGate" not Facebook/Twitter for social media.

Just for reference - Snapchat has about 10 million users in the UK out of a population of 64 million so the majority of UK residents do not use Snapchat and would be unfamiliar with the way it works.

The fact Louise was apparently using her camera rather than an app is no different to Kelly Rowland texting Nelly using Excel in the video for Dilemma - something could have been avoided by not showing the screen of the phone.
