BBC have put out the press release for the final - http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/pro...name=corporate

The three finalists will be dancing their favourite dance, the judges' choice and the showdance. Also, since it's 6:40 to 8:55, there will be no separate results show. I wonder when voting will open. I'm guessing there will be no reveal of who comes second/third.

Not the judges choice!

Thank you anyway.

Why don't they do "Public's Choice" instead of the "Judges Choice"?

How on earth are they going to fill the time if there is no break when one couple is eliminated?

Exactly.

I'm not sure 6:40-8:55 is long enough.

Because the judges like to have the opportunity to manipulate the public. We usually ignore it ... they look shocked but then they try it on again the following year.
It's easy enough for them to lumber someone with their worst dance (they once got Kimberley to reprise the dance that put her in a dance off for example) while giving someone else an early dance that only needs some polishing.

I'm not sure anyone does get eliminated? I read it to mean that all three compete as finalists and all three do all three dances - I could be completely mistaken though (it wouldn't be a first )

I will enjoy it more if all the couples get to do all the dances

I'm guessing so that the couples don't end up with a show dance, own choice and public choice that are similar in style? Only way they could do it maybe is to restrict public vote to specific dances? I'd vote if given the chance, it's a good idea!

That's probably right, in a 4 person final we get to say goodbye to the fourth place and the remaining three stay till the end.

I would rather have a proper 1st 2nd and 3rd. A winner and 2 others is so wishy washy.

I'll enjoy watching all 3 do all 3 dances if that is the case. And I agree, I rather know 1st, 2nd and 3rd - in the first few series didn't we find out or am I imagining that?

It's a 2h 15m show in total, with three couples dancing three times for a total of nine competitive performances. The combined total of last year's two shows was 2h 35m, with eleven competitive performances. Seems about right to me - if anything it could probably afford to get a bit shorter.

I find it irritating

. I think this runners up thing started the year Denise VO was in the final, with Kimberley Walsh....
and from what I read afterwards ( might not be true of course ) Denise got a very tiny percentage of the vote and clearly came third, but TPTB did not want this known...hence the new runners up tag.

No actually it's all a code for the judges to manipulate upcoming elections. See last year they chose Kellie to redo her Tango sending the viewing public a subliminal message they wanted us viewers to Tango out of Europe.

Then there was Katie who was asked to redo a dance from 42nd Street, do you know what's a couple of blocks away from 42nd Street? 57th Street, and do you know what's on 57th Street? Trump Towers!

Yup, and gives it more of a finale vibe that they get to do their showdance last. It doesn't take up that much time eliminating a couple anyway.

I'm disappointed with this, there should be a break& in part 2 the 2 remaining couples should do their last remaining unlearned dance

That makes no sense. We've never known whether the person who finished 3rd lost by miles to the person in 2nd or whether they were just pipped regardless of how it was announced so why bother? We wouldn't have known if Denise had a "very tiny %" any more than we knew if Pamela did or Jason did. And Denise had already beaten Dani into the second half of the finale, so if her % was very tiny than Dani's must have been very tinier.

I believe it was because of DVO that the four person final became a thing. The two previous years had seen double eliminations at the semi final stage to leave a three person final, but because DVO was polling so low they changed it so they could squeeze her into the final.

Don't know if that was entirely true, think I originally learnt about this on here as well

No, I don't think you are imagining that. They used to aim for 3 in the final; 1 would be eliminated after 1st or 2nd dance, leaving the other 2 to fight it out for the win. Then there were a couple of years when celebs dropped out - injury or other reasons - and they were left with 2 in the final which was ludicrous. To avoid that situation, they now aim for 4 in the final, so if one drops out there is still a "proper" final..

Not a very practical idea though. It would be difficult to collect a vote with so many options, if they didn't restrict a public vote to one of a few dances. Wouldn't they have to open up 39 phone numbers - one for each of 13 dances, times 3? That's a lot of phone numbers and would take a lot of time to broadcast all those numbers each time they invited the public to vote.
