I think it is pretty much a given Rob will be bottom 2 and out this week so who he is up against is immaterial. The only way he would avoid DO is if he had an amazing week and Claudia and Ore had pretty so so forgettable dances but I think Ore's dance is going to grab the public voters imagination (if you pardon the pun).

'I Just Can't Wait to Be King' is something far more suited to a Samba than a Salsa (Didn't Mark and Iveta dance a Samba to it recently?).

'One Night Only' too seems an odd fit for a tango. That said the tango song selection process normally seems to involve bashing in a random number into a jukebox and seeing what comes up.
That said I know Katie & Anton doing a tango to 'Telephone' last year seemed ridiculous and in reality it was just a string instrumental and actually worked well.

'Oh What a Night' seems pretty bad too for a Samba.

While the Cliftons seem to have got off lightly this week, let's not forget both have had some awful tango and samba songs in the past - the 'Boom Shake The Room' samba springs to mind.”

The impression I formed was that Kevin probably chose 'Boom Shake The Room'.
I thought for once he actually was generating chemistry, and loving dancing it - Kellie too! Kevin in his element!

It's the dance of Kevin's that I like the most.

I have to agree re Boom Shake The Room it is so Kevin such a pity that many peoples aversion to the music hid just how clever that routine was - plenty of samba steps in it but embracing the theme of the music too - on my facebook that night many fellow teachers and pros were laughing at just how kevin it was and only he could pull it off

I am not so sure about Kevins music this week - being an old dance school (well over 50 years) we have a vast record collection vinyl, cd's etc and we haven't one with that track on it as a quickstep but have no doubt he will pick a quickstep out of it

Thats what was said before his AT when everyone said that track would be too fast

they were wrong

Oti & Danny did their best with it but were told it was too frantic, I expect the same will be said for his Tango

At this stage of the competition NONE of the dances should have "odd" choices of music
theres enough music with the right timing, mood and tradition without trying to knobble or favour any of the couples

Do you think we could be on for a lot of cunningly disguised American Smooths this week?

I LOVE the Kellie-Kevin samba. One of my stand out dabces from last series and Kellie at her best.

How in the name of sweet suffering Moses is "Heard It Through The Grapevine" a "fast song"?

maybe, Musical week is so difficult they want the essence of the musical and the dance required so a bit of leeway perhaps should be allowed. Think Ore and Joanne should be able to pull off a foxtrot to their music though music is a bit odd - Laura and Val on DWTS used it for some sort of waltz, though I hope Ore gets similar staging to the DWTS one

The tango music I feel just played a tad slower will work well, dress Oti like one of the supremes and Danny like the male lead in the show and it should be great

Deadwood stage, well it just calls out for theatricals doesn't it - no real QS beat but plenty of bits in the music for Kev to play with and playing such a part for Louise might just let her finally let go and just have some fun.

I think a lot of the reason why Kevin is so valued by the show is that he can pull off mad shit like that with such style actually without sacrificing the content.

I loved that routine of Kellie's!

I saw numerous people questioning the content, but even as a non-dancer I spotted a variety of familiar steps/movements. It was a really innovative bit of choreo, IMO, and that's from someone who was not really a fan of K&K last year,

It's a slower bpm than When Doves Cry, which was perfectly good for an Argentine Tango.

I agree, That dance is one of my all-time faves.
I quite like all the music this week except for Danny and Oti's. How they'll translate into the relevant dances I have no idea, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Louise and Kevin will be dancing the Quickstep to ‘The Deadwood Stage’ from Calamity Jane

Ore and Joanne will be dancing the Foxtrot to ‘Pure Imagination’ from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”

Oh god, the musical choices just get worse. Plus their conception of what constitutes a "musical" and mine are somewhat at odds.

However, having said that, I absolutely love The Deadwood Stage and I think it could suit a Quickstep very well.
Pure Imagination is also a beautiful song and I think again would fit nicely into a Foxtrot style, so fingers crossed for those.

I agree, it will be Rinder and Claudia or Ore bottom two. My bet is on Ore, unless he tops the leader board maybe (which I think is unlikely)...

On the contrary, as VicsMum points out, the best AT in terms of authenticity this show has ever seen was danced to When Doves Cry.

Be still my beating heart! I still get goosebumps every time I watch this. Am I allowed to have a little cry over the fact that I really miss Vincent and Flavia?

Apologies all, I thought I'd read 'last year' when it was Tango, not AT

Definitely definitely not my phrase. I'm just nicking it! Probably from Monkseal's blog.

Just putting this here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_xmujSyxkU
I do love Doris Day and Howard Keel, and everything about this film really. I think Louise can really have some fun with this. Another plus about Louise's and Ore's songs (and this is meant as a positive not as a conspiracy theory) is that the songs are really about Louise and Ore's characters. I like the focus on the celeb. I don't know Dreamgirls or Jersey Boys well enough to know who they'll be dressed as, though I know the songs. And in my head Claudia and AJ are wearing Mark and Iveta's costumes, but I'm sure they won't be really!!

I think so, too. I'd been hoping Rob might get a samba to a great samba song (like Danny's last week) to which he could do something like in his first week cha cha cha, but instead he's stuck with a cheesy 70s hit from a jukebox musical. Claudia can do another lift-fest like the one that was so popular last week so I doubt she'll drop into the bottom two, so that just leaves Ore ... and so Rinder will be out
