They need all the time they can get for the epic climax of bingate, when Carmel gets a bit cross and pushes Ian's bin over.

So true. I cannot wait for the conclusion. Will they or won't they get their bins emptied?

The day of the week that their bins are supposed to get collected may change over Christmas, even more excitement for us viewers.

Isn't the point that they aren't being collected?

No the surprise is that I didn't check the thread thoroughly before I posted this thread, trying to be helpful to other posters.

I wasn't sure if it would be on Christmas Eve as it's on a Saturday.

Who knows Lea, it's absolutely mental. The twists and turns have got the country talking.

In which case they may end up waiting to moan on the wrong day if they didn't get the change of date leaflet through their door.

I do fear the worst re that Christmas Day late slot. I really don't want them to do what we think they might.

What's that may I ask?

It is the slot of death in my view and a Top 10 could be a slim chance, unless they pull it out of the bag.

Let's be honest crap or not EastEnders IS the soap that is watched on Christmas Day that gets a buzz and everyone talking regardless of how crap it ends up being. I think 9:30 will be fine it's unlikely we will all be tucked up in bed by 9:30 is it?

I wonder if EastEnders are throwing out red herrings, making out Phil dies, but someone else does instead

I wonder if it's going to be quite dark, though. That's quite a late start.

I'm so annoyed at the BBC schedule tbh. They took out the News to make space but then made Call The Midwife 90 mins which is way too long. All shows (excluding films) should only be 60 mins max. EE should be in 2 parts.

The Christmas duff duff is Jane going to the toilet, then saying "What are you doing here??" Then the camera reveals that Freddie Mercury has escaped and found his way into the Beale bathroom. Will Abi find out? Will he harm Jane? Duff duff....

Everyone sings "kum ba yah" and even Geraldine, Babe and Lee's douchey co-worker and boss put aside their nastiness to celebrate the good, happy tidings with the entire square.

Max, initially wanting revenge, forgives the blessed saint Beales declaring "Christmas is the time for forgiveness and new beginnings" after the blessed saint Jane tearfully gives Max a hug and a pressie crying "I'm sorry, please forgive me I've suffered enough!"

And Santy Claus is revealed to be Deano who has now become a born-again Christian regretting his evils ways wanting to make amends and because it's the magical day of Christmas everyone forgives him, even Roxy and Linda.

The episode ends with Dot "hilariously" tripping over a bunch of bins (because as we know the bin storyline was so damn funny the first time), mutters "Oh no, not the dastardly bins again!" Then starts to cheesily laugh, the entire square cheesily laughs along with her, Julia Theme plays and that's the end of the Christmas special.
