Those data allowances are not very competitive at all.

The fact they roll over for up to 3 years does make them stand out from the rest though.

5gb for £20 plus no unlimited calls. Expensive. Might as well pay £20 with Vodafone/EE and get 20gb of data month.

Well that is hardly going to get the others scared. Fairly low key offering, can see that changing fairly quickly.

It's not hugely competitive. The gimmick of unlimited minutes for "free" if you're a sky customer doesn't really stack up unless you elect to have no data plan at all, otherwise you're still paying a minimum of a tenner a month.

Be hold everyone.

Don't forget about that phone hacking scandal!!!

We all are aware that rupert murdoch allowed hacking into peoples voicemails. So it would not surprise me if this was a way that they can continue to do this in their new network.

I for one wont be switching to it lol

Sky Mobile observations:

They use O2, the network with the worst overall 3G coverage in the UK. Those who argue with me on this are in denial, and seriously need to check Ofcom coverage maps.

Their data allowances of 1GB for £10, 3GB for £15 and 5GB for £20 on a 12 month contract is NOT competitive at all.

Yes, they allow data to roll over for up to three years, but that appears to just be a gimmick to me. I can't see a low data user to suddenly want to use so much data saved up in a short period of time.

Cease to be a Sky TV subscriber? Prepare to pay an extra £10 a month for your calls and texts on top of the tariffs mentioned above.

I'm sorry Sky, but this is not going to work out well. With other networks offering far higher data allowances in the £20 region (and on shorter contracts!), and at the lower end of the pricing table (£10), other networks offer far more. Heck, even the upcoming Plusnet Mobile is more competitive than this, and they will use EE, the network with the most widespread combined 3G and 4G coverage.

If this was on HotUKDeals, I'd vote cold!

Sky Mobile comes with three simple data plans

1GB for £10 per month
3GB for £15 per month
5GB for £20 per month.

Non Sky TV customers can add on Unlimited Calls and Texts for £10 per month, or simply pay for calls and texts on a Pay As You Use (PAYU) basis, meaning they don’t pay for inclusive calls and texts they don’t need. Sky Mobile will be the only monthly provider that gives customers this flexibility.
I'm a Sky customer and that isn't cheaper than giffgaff.

I pay £10 a month to giffgaff and get 2GB of data, unlimited calls to other giffgaff users, unlimited texts and 100 minutes (which I never use).

Well Tesco mobile who are basically the same as Sky on o2s network are more competitive.

I suspect there will now be many networks that worried about what they have read today.

Ok not bad for a tenner a month, would have switched a couple of numbers over to it if it was a 30 day contract, but not for 12 months .

I get the same deal with Three. Even if Sky are pinning their hopes on people rolling over loads of data, it still doesn't make it competitive.

Sky Go is supposed to be free if you take Sky Mobile, so I suppose if that's zero impact then it does then become quite a good deal.

Lets be clear the packages are shite, their biggest all round competitors BT and VM are leagues ahead in terms of competitiveness.

For £20 you can get:

BT

Unlimited Mins
Unlimited Texts
30GB of Data
Unlimited Wifi

O2

Unlimited Mins
Unlmited Texts
20GB of Data

There are others from Vodafone and Three but the point still stands, much better deals away from Sky. I should say they are doing what they have always done when they launch a new product, make it expensive on first release. Look at Sky Q and how much that bloody thing cost when it launched earlier this year, only now they have made it cost the same as a standard setup. Once Sky get their feet under the table, I am sure they will launch more competitive packages.

Really disappointed with this. Roll over data is the only carrot.

Sky go extra is not a great incentive to sign up, neither are the other gimmicks.I would have loved to have got unlimited streaming on sky go instead.

Another possible carrot is if you can pay through you normal sky sub which is better than 2 direct debits.

Changing your deal within the contract is also good. Once out of contact I imagine deals will be offered to get 12 month sign ups.

I think they've misunderstod the mobile market badly

It's on O2. not sure why anyone expected great data deals seeing that Sky have 12 million potential mobile customers... Anything super competitive with EE/Three would kill the network should so many switch in a short period of time. Remember O2 is rather spectrum limited..

Thanks for posting this as after seeing it last night I got this for my son.
I also noticed 20GB unlimited texts, mins & hotspots which I already had for £20 was now £18 so I changed mine to that.
