Janine is a complex character, not all bad for me, she is more of a bitch than a Villan for ne.

Den Watts darker side - like when he was in prison.

That version of Den would have put the Philth's lights out quicker than Foreman would have done to Fraudley Harrison.

The revelation that Archie raped Ronnie was not until August 2010 which was 8 months after Archie had been killed off. It certainly explained Archie's strange behavior, his obsession with Ronnie and bullying of her etc. Prior to the rape reveal when Archie was onscreen what did he actually do? Made a few unpleasant comments towards Ronnie and convinced Peggy to dress like an old woman from the 1920s. He was hardly a master villain his actions were quite petty. His biggest crime was have Ronnie's baby adopted but that kind of thing went on a lot back then, parents forcing their teen children to give up their babies because of the shame and stigma of being a single, unwed, teen parent. He wasn't a nice man but didn't actually do anything THAT bad during his time onscreen. It wasn't until after his death when he was revealed to have raped Ronnie and Stacey that he's now regarded as one of the shows worst villains.
