Nick, Trevor and Janine.

Johnny Allen for me, could do the good old gentleman act and then switch instantly to an evil vicious gangster.

I'd also say Lucas. A suave, savvy manipulative psychopath who had religious beliefs that he distanced himself away from earlier this year.

I always thought they'd neutered Johnny Allen - through no fault of the actor. Saddling him with Ruby and his wife - forget her name - was a disastrous decision from which he never really recovered.
Favourite bad guy? Michael Moon. Everything about this character was superb. That smarmy grin he'd pull out of nowhere, his mod style suits and even the 'not the face' catchphrase. He also gives lie to the idea that everything that EX-Hollyoaks producer did on Eastenders was awful.

Agreed. Had they not been introduced, Johnny would almost certainly have been number one on this list, but his character became pathetic because of his family. Billy Murray agreed and that's why he quit...typically, it's a case of what could've been.

Phil is still #1, even if his villainous heydey has long passed. Honourable mentions to Steve, Trevor and Archie.

She wasn't his wife but his girlfriend and her name was Tina Stewart.

He was totally neutered just so TPTB could worship at the feet of their little Philth God again.

Instead of Allen just giving the scumbag a Paddington Bear style 'hard stare' after Mitchell forced that plank Juley to take Ruby's virginity - the Poison Potato would have been hung up on a meathook in a disused factory with Johnny having some pliers, bolt-cutters, various dental equipment and a blowtorch to use at his convenience.

The fact that King Weeble was allowed to walk around the square was simply further confirmation of TPTB's total delusion when it comes to this preposterous character.

No wonder Billy was not happy.

Best female villain Janine.

Although my favourites Janine, Den, Steve and Michael were all not really total 'villains' because they all were not 'evil' as such and were capable of inducing great empathy from the audience at times.

For such real evil, total heartless, and malicious behaviour it has to be Babe! All the other villains seemed to be nasty to other villains or ner'do'wells. But Babe absolutely tortured poor Les and Pam, who never annoyed anyone, even when Paul was murdered. And coerced Abby into the fake pregnancy thing, for absolutely no reason except to be evil.

I ceased watching Eastenders between 1999-2009 having watched it from the very start. Missed watching the Johnny Allen and Steve Owen characters. Can someone provide a brief summary about him pls?

Chrissie Watts.

She was like an unstoppable force of nature. In just 18 months she schemed her way to becoming landady of the Vic, murdered the most famous EE character of all time, and single-handedly fought off the entire Mitchell family. We'll never see another character like her.
