I have had real problems getting a clear understanding of sharing with Amazon prime in general and Amazon prime video/TV. New member to their service.

Friend in another house wants to share the cost/benefits with me. Amazon keep referring to household sharing and no reference to other addresses. Can this be done. Can they share my amazon TV/Video?

If not is there a work around - if they use my sign in details (can add their address to my account for their deliveries - no issue with access to my credit cards/details etc) can they then use their wifi to watch, even if I am using a different ISP/wifi at my house at the same time??

Searched high and low for some clarity and could not find a similar question/answer on forums

Keep in mind that you can only stream video on two devices simultaneously on the one account. So if your friend was watching something on his telly and his kids were watching something else on the laptop, you wouldn't get a look in.
That's apart from the problem of them having access to your credit card.

The sharing function is only supposed to be for families at the same address. There is no sharing options for friends.

Short of them giving you their account details the best option is to set up as a child.

You may not have any problems with them having access to your credit card/billing info but your credit card company might if anything were to go wrong at any point.

I'm not so sure. It doesn't actually say anywhere that both adults have to live at the same address.

In fact, the wording of this sentence implies that different addresses are fine:

To share Prime Video streaming, both adults must have a 1-Click billing address and payment method within the UK.

I think their primary method of control over misuse of this is the fact that both adults gain access to the other person's payment cards. That effectively guarantees that you're only going to setup a household with someone you trust.

Don't worry about problems that don't exist - credit card sharing IS NOT of any concern for me. I am aware of the risks. I am also aware of the limit on streaming - friend has no other persons in house so would just be her and me. No kids (by the way not important to me but I thought the kids linked to either adult did not count - as I said not important)

Just to clarify as the post below yours is suggesting that I can't physically share with one adult from another address - are you certain I can? This is the key question I still am not certain of

Quote from Amazon -

'Selected Amazon Prime benefits can only be shared between the two adults in an Amazon Household'..........so what defines a household? same address or just what you nominate as a household (so can be different address if you so choose)??

Thanks for this. I think the same as you, but unfortunately no where I can find offers a definite answer and it's one I need.

I know that Amazon (particularly with the credit card sharing) are aiming at families in the one household - but do you know with certainty that friends with different addresses cannot if they choose to?

I can of course just share my account details if I physically can't share as designed. I wouldn't set up as a child as it reduces the service to them that the other 2 options (if possible) wouldn't

You appear to have answered your own question. If you want to know what actually happens in a specific scenario then you will have to try it and see.

Thanks - yes I could try it and see, but by doing this and it not working then it prevents me from adding on someone else for 180 days. I was hoping to find someone who is actually doing it (or tried it) and therefore knows the actual answer

You can add separate address and indeed add separate cards for buying and delivery of goods. I no longer use the Prime service and seldom watch anything on Amazon but when I did have an account that also covered streaming I could share the streaming service provided both were watching something different. I belive this still stands and the only exclusion is watching the same show/film on two different devices.

Thank you. Just like on other forums there is little clarification on this and certainly not on the Amazon prime forum. As with this one many think that household meant 'only those at your address'.

I have added the other person (at another address) and all went smoothly. All working as it should. Household is clearly a word used by Amazon and is a little misleading, hence the lack of clarity.

So just for reference - it is anyone you choose anywhere in the UK.

Sorry I forgot that I had my son order an item and have it delivered to my address just 3 weeks ago so yes it obviously still works that way for people. He also use his Prime service when away from home whilst his wife often catches up on something at home provide it is a different film or show so obviously the streaming access still remains too.
