What are your new years resolutions?

Mine are:

*Give up sugar
*Stop watching the news
*Cycle more
*Be completely empathetic

My one for this year was to drink 500 different beers in the year, I've smashed it as I'm currently on 714 with a month to go.

Next years resolution will be to do 1000 different beers in a year.

It's doable and fun, I don't see the point in giving something you like up, that's no fun at all.

To stop saving up my holidays and actually take some.

I wonder how many hundreds of times that gets repeated every year at this time ?

Anyway, i never do resolutions, i do a "to do" list. Usually put 30 things on it and have a target of at least a third each year.

I have failed that target two out of the last three years though

Just to help my daughter make the most of her new spine (as we are calling it ), get as healthy and fit as she can to enable her to do things she hasn't been able to do for the last 18 months or so.

Next year's going to be a better year than this one - it couldn't be worse, so I'm just looking forward to the end of this one.

I always make too many so I am going to just change one thing - I am going to do an hours exercise a day. This might be just walking part way to work and back, or a workout DVD. I want to get a bit fitter and an hour a day is achievable for me.

I didn't have one this year. Anyone got any top New Year's Resolution ideas for 2017?

The same one as every year - I'm not going to drink any more.

Or any less.

Last year I vowed -

To get my level 3 accounting qualification. My last exam is this Saturday and I'm doing all I can to pass it

To lose weight. I'm still a way to go but I've lost 18 lbs this year

Next year -

Get a new job

Continue with losing weight but exercising more in the gym

Sounds like you've had a very productive year and should have no trouble meeting next year's goals. Well done with the weight loss, and good luck with the exam on Saturday!

With the sudden death of my Dad a few months ago, this year has taught me that life is too short saying that you are going to do something & not actually doing it.

Next year I am going to visit some different places for photography. Places I have got in mind are Somerset & Devon as flights to Exeter can be got cheaper than rail fares, so the plan is next Spring to get a flight to Exeter, then take the train to Weston-Super-Mare for a day at the Cheddar Gorge & then on another day take the train to a part of Devon.

I am also planning on visiting Edinburgh as have never been to Scotland & have found a cheap way of getting there by train via split ticketing and advanced booking. In both Devon & Scotland, I will only be staying a few days in each in order to keep costs down so that I am able to visit a friend in the states later on in the year.

Just to have a slightly less appalling one than this year (or millenium for that matter).

Anything else would be a huge bonus.

That's definitely going to be my first too. I came very close to giving up this year. The fact a certain close relation decided to not be around when their support could have helped me has inspired one of my other resolutions:

2) DON'T do a favour for said relation again. On reflection doing favours for said relation late last year and earlier this year contributed to the problems I had this year, so I've learned my lesson well.

3) More leg exercises!!

I stuck to mine. Still doing it. Nearly lost 5 stone and a tonne of exercise over the course of 16 months. A few lbs away from the 5 stone mark. Now 11st 9. Target 11st and see where I go from there.

Its a form of self motivation, particularly if you haven't had a good year gone that you intend to make the one coming better.

Well hopefully, a fair bit, but I say that most Decembers. The difference with next year, is I turn 30, so I suppose I have more of a reason than ever before. With any luck, Friday will help too.

Cut down on (not cut out) Sugar and Carbs. I eat too many carbohydrates, so instead of fruit and sandwiches (for work) it'll be more salads and vegetables, more veg and meat than pasta/potatoes and pizza.

I live in the South-West, Gloucestershire to be precise, and the last two years I've wanted to cycle up into Gloucester, back down the other side of the river, across the bridge and back up, about 75miles in total (I can cycle more than this, but I've never done that specific route, and I've always wanted too) so yeah, that's one plan.
