The thread OP makes it clear that this is a positive thread so negativity should be directed elsewhere like there aren't enough already so why can't this thread be shown a little respect.

I suppose some always have to be negative though

Of course you turned up. Perhaps read the op maybe.

Plenty of negative threads elsewhere so if you can't handle this one I suggest ignoring it.

Before you blather on about the right to your opinion all you do is say how crap the show is without actually being constructive so leave the one positive thread alone and go to the million and one other negative threads.

I like Donna. Mouthy and to the point. Most of the time to the point of insulting.

I know she has her detractors, but I think she's great, and enjoy her scenes that are almost always dripping with sarcasm.

She's a little spitfire!

Although November has been a bit of a let down, September and October was the best the show has been in probably a decade.

Lee's well written depression and bullying story.

Dot's health story (and friendship with Patrick).

Phil's liver transplant and the impact it's having on the family.

The Coker's justice and happy ending (along with Ben).

Billy being taken seriously and in charge of his own business.

Masood's departure to get Zainab back in his life.

Jay being restored after the Starr stuff.

Kathy being returned to her previous glory.

Diane Parish given good material to work with.

Stories generally breathing better, with characters interacting better and more realistic dialogue.

The christmas show is a bit boring. It could've been a week long leading up to christmas day. It doesn't need to be a 5 week long story. The bin stuff is a bit tiring and I'm hoping Kim's driving lessons are actually leading to something - but overall the show is good and leading up nicely to R&R exits and Max's return for an interesting 2017. I hope O'Connor is building a good backroom team lead by a better story producer than Alex Lamb.

I find the complete negative overreaction silly, but everyone's entitled to their opinions. It's the people who criticise, and never expand on why, which irks me. It's a bit of a sheep mentality at times on here.

Just cause not everyone thinks the current form is the best thing since slice bread, doesn't make people a sheep.

I find the overreaction and passive-aggressive from some corners of late more silly then the 'moaners' themselves.

The positives for me are the improved dialogue and characterisation. We're now seeing them act and speak like real people and I've gone from finding a large number of them annoying to actually caring for, and liking, them again. They've had their personalities restored, so they're behaving with a much greater degree of believability and no longer saying or doing things that you wouldn't expect.

I like the slowed down pace... for now. Not for ever but for now. DTC's last year was exhausting to watch, so a respite has been welcome.

Lastly, I like the total lack of spoilers. It's nice to watch without knowing where the story is going. It's a shame that we know Lee/Babe/Ronnie/Roxy etc are leaving but it's refreshing to not know exactly how they're leaving. We may know about R&R, granted, but there's still that element of doubt as to quite how much the Sun has got right.

None of it. It's slow, boring, repetitive. And I'm a big EE fan.

Off the top of my head:

Great interaction between characters and characters aren't so restricted to the immediate people in their storylines, they mix now. And as others have said great characterisation period.

Billy having a responsible job and actually being taken seriously for once. Phil actually showing Billy respect the other day. I really don't him to be regressed to loser again.

Billy and Jay working together at the funeral directors, I always thought that Jay should have been with Billy not Phil.

Phil stopping grunting, sighing and playing silent/walking off and actually talking about how he feels - OK it's only a bit but it's a start!

Sharon calling Angie 'Mum'. Drove me mad under DTC when she referred to them and Den and Angie.

The Lee and Whitney storyline but I'm not going to lie, I'm getting a bit impatient with Lee now even though I know he's depressed and has low self-esteem. However sometimes he's frustrating to watch especially when he's saying to Whitney that she's going to have the best December EVER even though (for once) she hasn't even harped on about wanting the best Christmas ever that I recall! Gaaaah! But I suppose it's realistic.

A Kathy I recognise being back not the mouse who returned.

Martin and Stacey .

That's all I can think of for the moment
