Oh I wasn't heading up to Inverness, I used to pop over to Glasgow then and up the West Highland route on my to Mallaig

That used to take five hours and there were only four trains a day. It used to split at Oban and you'd have to make sure you were in the right half.
Only time I went to Inverness we drove from Mallaig there for the North West Fisherman's Annual DInner Dance at the Calednonian Thistle Hotel (think it's the Premier Inn now or similar) by the river. Got absolutely trollied, Stripped the Willow and collapsed into bed around 4am
Oh no I lie, I went there another time on my honeymoon but we stayed in a B&B and I had pleurisy so was very ill!
