I've been disappointed with Gareth's choices every episode yet the acapella group he chose that I didn't like proved to be the best on the semi final night.
I still would have loved to have seen the shanty guys with beards chosen though

It seemed a very odd choice to me and they really struggled with it. My biggest with the show has been the way in which he divided up the country. The north and Scotland and Wales and the Midlands are both huge areas from which to select only three choirs whereas the South West which is actually quite a small area of the country got three choirs all to themselves! And what about Northern Ireland? I get that it's only a short series and he couldn't do as many regions as he might like but the way he divided the country was just bizarre.

I liked the acapella guys from the south west a lot and they were magnificent last night. Otherwise I think there have been some dodgy choices, particularly the women from Durham. They're lovely but they were so far behind everyone else that it seemed odd to put them through to the group of three, let alone to the semi-final. The shanty guys were ok but a bit one trick pony. As are the gospel choir who I didn't think were all that good last night. They essentially showed they have no range by turning 'It's oh so quiet' into a gospel song.

I did think the gospel choir coped really well with Oh so Quiet. Have to agree that youth choir struggled but definitely better than the mums. Have to also say the division of Uk was actually bizarre - should have made the whole series longer and more Gareth driven than 'production' driven. |

I would suspect the country was divided - not by geographical size, but by population.
It would stand to reason that, where there are higher numbers of population, their are likely to be more people involved in choirs. For all we know there may have been dozens of entries from the south & west, but very few entries from the rest of the country. |

Again I thought semi-toned were amazing and although EAGA were good, Especially For You was not great and I didn't like what they did to Guide me oh thou Great Redeemer. Bulmershe were lovely but out of their depth. |

Agreed right choir won. I loved EAGA and their sound is amazing and that solo singer Kosi should have a record contract. However with the sound at the front so loud and amazing probably behind all that sound is less technical skill.
Semitoned don't really have a big production to hide anything. But they were brilliant. |

Irony of ironies...
I wasn't in the choir at school so I don't watch this. My sister was quite a good singer though, and she was in the choir, but she doesn't watch it either. I don't think she does anyway. She never mentions it if she does,
