A quick google search will confirm that a body is not required for a murder charge.
If there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence you can be charged with murder. The prosecution needs to prove without any doubt that the victim is dead and the only person who could have killed them is the accused.
There have been at least two high profile cases in the UK in the last 5 years where murder convictions have been made without the bodies - the case of April Jones in Wales and Danielle Jones (no relation and not the EE character) in England.
The storyline
is stupid though; the evidence does not overwhelmingly prove Caz is dead (obviously) and even if they had her body, that Maria is the only one who could have killed her.
