When it started there were so many negative Carol posts, insulting her looks, calling her laugh fake, dismissing her as an attention seeker etc etc.... I think she's proved all her critics wrong now. She's a lovely person, very honest, down to earth, kind and caring and she looks bloody amazing..... I'd have been happy to see her win.

Yes definitely, shame that there are a lot of jealous women out there and wanted her out! I gave her my 5 free votes each day. Lovely lady and deserved to stay much longer!!!!

I wouldn't say I was a Carol hater before this thing began - but she did get on my wick by being omnipresent. However - in this (and it isn't just her genuine kindness to Martin) she's really made me warm to her. I would have liked to see her stay a little longer (it would have been nice for Martin to have a friend in there still).

I have to say though - she's far more attractive with her real, dark hair - I don't like the blond thing she's got going at all!

I don't think I've been proven wrong about her fake laugh, I still stand by that.
But that doesn't make me a hater, it was merely an observation.

On the contrary I liked her on the show, most of us fake laugh in real life when in company for whatever reason. I didn't want her to go and I think she was one of the best in there. I would have liked to her to at least have been in the top three.

I honestly believe that we've lost one of the better, most decent and one of the kinder campmates.

I read her autobiography a few years ago, and she has led a very interesting life. A lot of people think she just did the numbers on Countdown, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

She is a fascinating lady. I would have liked to hear a lot more from her whilst she was in there.

I have never liked her much, for several trivial reasons, but I have really warmed to her this series of IAC. I really do like her now.

Have to say though, that I really do tire of the 'jealous women' chestnut that is cast towards women who are not keen on another woman. It's not always about being jealous..... if you don't like someone, you don't like them. There are a few famous women I can't stand, and I am not jealous. I just don't like them. I like plenty of female celebs who are sexy and attractive, so the 'you're jealous' assumption when I say I don't like a certain woman falls rather flat!

I mentioned her plastic surgery when she fire came in, because I was shocked by it, her face looked frozen. I really like her and have been voting for her to stay, along with Joel. I was gutted that Larry didn't go.

I thought she was great, so lovely to all the others and yes she's one of the most interesting people in there this year. What I like most about Carol is the fact that she's very intelligent but never makes anybody feel inferior or unintelligent! Sad to see her go but thought it would be her tonight. She should definitely have been the last woman standing in my book but I'm sure she will love relaxing round the pool and drinking cocktails!

Yes, the jealousy thing is very juvenile and I presume completely untrue in the vast majority of cases.

I could never pinpoint why I found Carol annoying before IAC, I assure you it wasn't jealousy. That being said, I thought she was great on IAC and was sad to see her go (though I pretty much like everybody this year).

I wasn't too keen on Carol at the start, thought she came across as a bit of a know it all, and when Danny Baker arrived, she seemed to be playing alpha female to his alpha male stance.

However, I've now totally changed my opinion of her, as the camp settled down she came across as a warm and caring lady, and I wish that she'd had more airtime as I'm sure she had some very interesting tales to share. Sorry to see her go.

Carol won me over with the "I'm not sentimental." line. Sounds like someone who would be entertaining to be around.

Oh stop it!
You lose any credibility when you say some women were jealous of her. Get real for goodness sake.

I have never really liked her, however I'm not in the least jealous of her. Why on earth would I be, more so now that she has gone down the ''plastic road''!

I agree with you re her laugh.

Much as I have never really liked her much in the past, she did come across as quite a nice person on the programme. I think she should have stayed in over the likes of Larry, Scarlett or Adam.

It might be an inappropriate time to tell you this, but I'm not the OP.

I do apologise for my rudeness, I don't think it reflects well on me, but you didn't appear to have read beyond my first line where I was quite nice about Carol.

But no hard feelings on my part.

Yes, it's a bit ridiculous from a woman her age..........when this series 1st started she used to jump around towards Ant & Dec as if she was a kangaroo or a rabbit (not really sure which one), but it was quite bizarre.

That sort of 'fun', if that's what you want to call it, then yes...usually about 10 years old!
