Awful trial

That was horrible. And poor Sam - anyone who knows what it is like to have something crawl in their ear, or even get their ear syringed will know it isn't nice. No wonder she kept holding her ears after. Is there an argument for giving them earplugs for trials - or would they not be able to hear what was happening?

That's something which occurred to me during the trial. They give them goggles but why don't they give them earplugs?

I don't know why nobody has thought of this before because this has happened before on the show at least once with Fatima Whitbread.
But it was only tonight that I wondered why they get goggles but not earplugs.

Poor Sam!! The fact she still continued with the trial after the cockroach-in-ear incident shows that she's made of impressively stern stuff. What a trooper, hope she stays to the end.

Makes me wonder what would happen if something like that happened mid trial. Would they have to endure to the end, or say I'm A Celebrity, or could they stop and start it?

It was awful. A naff, hard, impossible-to-do trial. If I had been Sam, I would have quit after that roach was washed out of my ear. They really should have earplugs.

They made it near impossible in the hope that no food would cause conflict

I thought it was a good trial, they've had it easy so far.

But why they don't give them ear plugs is beyond me.

It was surely virtually impossible to find the right stars in that trial. Maybe because until now they had won enough stars to keep the camp reasonably well fed, they (producers) decided on one that they could not be won?

Agree, about Sam. She's no quitter. I'd like to see her win - someone with a bit of class.

My thinking too. It was a task more or less about chance than effort....any of them would have struggled. Had it been 8 red stars they would have had a better shot but the order of numbers was reaally crafty on the producers side. Joel kept saying he was getting star 7 but it couldn't count, had to be 3.

Its a shame if they do that as it wastes a trial. Impossible trial's annoy me along with ones which are too easy.

Considering they got lots of questions wrong and Sam had her hands over her ears half the time, more stars were definitely possible.

Very difficult trial, probably intentionally so.

Having to answer questions (which by ITV's standard were somewhat difficult... the speed of a cockroach etc), in order to be able to begin looking for one star out of 48, whilst being turned repeatedly, covered in bugs all with a minute per star. Ridiculously difficult.

It was one of the most disgusting & hardest bush tucker trial. Felt sorry for Sam but she was amazing to keep going, not just a pretty face.

I've seen Larry wearing earplugs in a trial - either that or he wears a hearing aid I suppose.

I have been more worried about noses. Presumably a little critter can only get so far into your ear before the eardrum stops it. But how far can a critter get if it goes up your nose?

These trials are built weeks in advance. The can't suddenly say, "Oh they have had it too easy, let's make a difficult one"

I may be wrong but I think it was a Fatima Whitbread who had a critter up her nostril and Dr Bob had to get it out.

Edit: here it is.

Oh right, my mistake.
But there has been a precedent before when a bug got in somebody's ear. I can't remember who though.

When I saw it I was wondering whether they decided to number the stars at the last minute, to ramp up the difficulty.

Yes of course they are but the numbered stars and questions could have been changed late on to make it much more difficult , horrible trial and I felt sick for them.

I really didn't enjoy this trial one bit, it was just darned impossible for them to complete. And while none of us want them to win every star, every time, it's better when they at least have half a chance of doing so!

Nothing will beat Fatima Whitbread snorting one out of her nose if memory serves !!

They probably would have got half the stars if they had got more questions right!
