astronaut Gus Grissom died in the Apollo capsule fire. I still have his book somewhere, about flying the previous Project Gemini missions, which ''tested'' the orbital rendezvous principles later reqired for Apollo ....

I don't think any space ship - American, European, Chinese built etc - has gone that far beyond civilian aircraft altitude. I think there is an electromagnetic field around the Earth preventing pesky humans leaving the planet. Stuff like the ISS - International Space Station - all fake! I think it's the one genuine conspiracy theory (well that and JFK's death, of course).
Are you being serious ?

Gemini VI and Gemini VII were the first American rendezvous in space. Christmas 1965 if I remember rightly. The interesting thing was that Gemini VII was launched first. A good trivial pursuits question.

Of course the Titan rockets they used had another purpose as ICBMs

I guess that nuclear war was all fake too.

Of course they didn't land on the moon, the thrusters would have melted the cheese.

I'm slightly surprised that wasn't in Bill Kaysing's book!

I would prefer those landing sites were left pristine and untouched for posterity.

Go Youtube water bubbles NASA space missions and there is the truth. Filmed underwater. Clear water bubbles rising. No upward force in space. And no water in space! But if you wanna believe NASA is really in space, go ahead.

The truth eh?

So, lets get this straight...when someone wants to expose something that is being kept from us, or hidden or surpressed etc...they cleverly hide it on a website that practically the whole world has access to...and the 'powers that be' will never know...hmmm.

This German plan could be seen as a hoax too.

For some values of posterity...

Continuing erosion by micrometeorites along with the occasional larger impact will probably erase all trace of the Apollo landings in a few tens of millions of years.

Imagine if aliens had intercepted Sputnik 2 in 1957 and found a dog in charge !

I knew you were joking, but it's not really surprising that it's going over people's heads. It's hard for people to tell when you're joking when there are so many people out there that actually think man didn't go to the moon, that there is no international space station and that the Earth is flat.

But they will still probably be the last signs of mankind's existence.

They were certainly events to be remembered. Usually the rocket became clouded in smoke but in the case of Apollo XI the plumes went to either side and there was perfect view of the rocket ascending.

Of course XII was even more amazing i that it was launched into the teeth of a storm. You would not see that happening now.

Amazing that they did not pull the abort handle.

Mind you on Gemini VI Wally Schirra chose not to abort while they drained highly flammable rocket fuel below him.

They were very brave men.

as were their Russian counterparts.
I don't recall any of the launches being obscured by smoke?

Some vapour from the outer skin maybe, but nothing obscuring.

Yup. However far over the top you go, it's difficult to beat the bat-sh*t crazy nonsense which some conspiracy theorists actually believe!

I assume the 'bubbles in space' one (not by Billy) was also a joke?

Please someone ... tell me it was a joke!

I am thinking of the launches as they happened, not selective views later.

Here was Apollo X

and Apollo 16

That'll do for posterity. Humans could be long extinct when some passing aliens would discover we woz 'ere on the moon.

Any one with half a brain knows they did.
There were hundreds of people involved in the moon landing.
Now with all the money the Media are willing to pay for inside information do you not think a SNOWDEN would have popped up from amongst them.
Also the Russians were tracking them as was Jodrell Bank which at the time was the best radio telescope in the western world.
You can only trust two people out of three were money is involved.

I think people who think we never made it to the moon are ridiculous. I mean Wallace and Gromit went there and even sampled moon cheese. Fact. *tuts*
