They better make sure nobody gets any photos or video of it indicating, or it will be instantly proved as fake.

Thank God our Space Programme was cancelled. We'd have been there in Tweed Suits, smoking Pipes and riding bicycles

At least we would have been there.

Not that it matters - people who dream of man travelling to the edge of the Solar System and beyond in the distant future are kidding themselves.

The vast amounts of money and cooperation involved between nations needed for such a project are/will be simply beyond us.

Which is why since Apollo (a project with unlimited funding only because they had to defeat the Soviets) the best manned space travel gets is a very small tin can in orbit only 400 km above the Earth.

I broadly agree and am cynical of 'us' ever going to Mars.

However, I don't want to deprive anyone of a career and funding Aircraft Cariers, Trident, HS2, CERN and Apollo etc keeps the Scientific Community ticking over. and progression in our knowledge and keeping people off the Dole.

Just the one spin-off of Tim Berners-Lee has proved rather valuable

Some of the Billions are eye-watering of course.

The money is not a problem for me - I would far rather it be spent on science than weapons of mass destruction - just look at the incredible defence budgets of the world's most powerful nations.

Humanity has always been uniquely superb at killing each other - you only have to look at history for that.

The search for pure knowledge for knowledge's sake is the only truly noble pursuit mankind has ever followed.

Science is the flickering flame to light our way in a world of evil and superstitious darkness.

Are you sure we aren't just seeking new people to kill?!

Anyway what do people think of this project? Is it ever likely to get off the ground?

I don't see why not.

Mind you, if they're going to put a couple of Audi Quattros on the moon, I hope they call them Hannu and Michèle.

(1980s rally fans will understand!)

I do not think that NASA are too happy that a crowd of Germans might be messing around with such a historical relic as the remains of Challenger.

I cannot see them getting this ready in time for the 45 anniversary. The 50th maybe..

As an aside. Did people notice that Buzz Aldrin had to be evacuated from the South Pole the other day?

At some point intelligent life on this planet is going to have to find a new home. As a species we are not averse to stepping on a few toes in order to get what we want. If the cost of our survival has to be borne by another species somewhere on a distant world, then so be it.

Well Tony Livesey says it all checked out so it must be true. There was also the one about the donkey holding up a bank.

It depends on the camera position, particularly for Apollo 16 - the shot from 1:46 is perfectly clear.

Well watching on TV in the late sixties early seventies I was watching on black and white television from one camera so I was well aware that the rocket usually disappeared until it cleared the tower. That is what I meant originally when I said that the smoke/vapour around Apollo XI did not obscure the rocket.

[quote=Aetius_Maralas;84753062]But this mental health condition means that chemtrails don't work on them allowing them to see the world as it really is.

Perhaps they need to crank up the HARP arrays.
