I just could not vote for larry (whom I liked before this show), people talk about Martin being childish and petulent and yet seem to admire Larry who's behaviour in there is worse than childish. He is not only grumpy, but nasty, self entitled, lazy and imo a bit of a bully.
How childish was he during the DD trial to ignore Martins attempts to lighten the mood and rub along...just because he dislikes a campmate does not mean he should not at least make an attempt to get along when needed. Larry is so rude and ignorant when he takes against someone. Martin I have observed is very mature in how he handles criticism and Larry could really learn a lot from Martin on just how easy going Martin is considering the negativity shown towards him. For all Martins faults he seems quite an honest depreciating of himself fella with a sense of fun who basically just wants to be liked. Larry on the other hand is a miserable old git with a sense of entitlement and a bitchy demeanour. |

Larry could have gone up in everyones estimation if he d have had a good laugh with Martin who was up for it. he refused the high five from Martin and didnt join in well at all, he could have soared if hed have played along and been nice back to Martin who tried so hard to be friendly.
Personally I try and avoid them at all costs and I'm sure the majority of the human race would too. |

Why should he have to get on with him if he doesn't like him? seriously in everyday life do you talk/ get on with people you can't stand or don't want to give the time of day?

I agree I avoid too, but this is a tv show with a lot at stake, its Larrys reputation and his chance to win, which he could if he changed his attitude, hes acting more like a child now that Martin ever did, Ill admit Martin really annoyed me at first and I wondered why he had ever considered going in at all, but I think he was putting on some front at first, why I dont know, but he snapped out of it and has been great ever since....ok hes a bit loopy but sometimes eccentric is good.... Larry lost interest in the show once Danny was sent packing, He had his back up big time , he then tried to get others on his team, and some appeased but didnt follow through, this is when Larry sort of gave up I think.
I like Martin, it's his fans that are the issue - or the ones who are loud on here, talk down and feel the need to name call and be rude. Even making insinuations about people sitting on Larrys knee. Its just guttural and not on. I'm not even a massive Larry fan, but the posts last night and throughout today are awful and way below anything Larry may or may not have done to Martin. |

He just is not a very nice man, he doesnt have to love Martin he just has to stop his bitching and let the others (the boys) form their own opinions
He seems to have a go a Martin infront of the boys but not infront of the girls, note how Lisa Ola and Carol didnt have bad things to say about Martin but as soon as Wayne started to stray into thinking Martin was not that bad Larry had him back on board with the dislike within minutes, although Wayne seemed to have clicked on last night Seeing Larry in action against Martin seemed to turn the tide with the girls Larry wants to be liked more than Martin by the boys, he wants to be Daddy to them, waking them up gently and making them cups of tea in the morning FFS they are all grown men and dont need it and Larry is making himself more of a lapdog than Martin or any of the others would do |

And oh let's not pretend that Martin, despite the nice, friendly front, isn't still capable of being very irritating. There was no miracle in camp: he's an improved man, not a changed one, and let's also remember that it's not only Larry's nerves he's testing. ![]() I do like Martin as a campmate but this need by some to package him up as a lovely cuddly harmless bag of fun is painful. |

Not really; he's just shown that he doesn't suffer fools or people who just make noise or act like a relentless child. Why should he pussyfoot around him if he doesn't like him?
Maybe you think that behaviour is acceptable. |

He's perfectly within his rights to dislike Martin ... its the behind the back bitching to others about him. I don't know about you - but if I dislike someone at work (or anywhere in real life) I am civil to them without going out of my way to make friends - but under NO circumstances do I bitch to other people about them.

He didn't appear to have a go at Carol (also in her 50s), who also did her fair share of leaping about and shouting (not that there's anything wrong with that).
The reason why Larry treats Martin harshly is because Larry has taken on the role of alpha male, but that can only work if he's surrounded by younger people. No middle aged man is going to look at him with the adoration he thinks he deserves. |

But we like a good old bitch on here about people we can't possibly know 😁 Not to mention all the amateur armchair psychoanalysis that goes on. I've seen posters who can actually read their minds...amazing stuff.
![]() How would you explain Larry's sneaky talks to Wayne about Martin. And then - to illustrate his bitching had worked ... Wayne was bitching to Joel about Martin - relaying what that sly old goat had said. Thankfully - I don't think Joel took him on - I think Joel likes to remain aloof from it all and stay non-committal when people try to draw him in. You cannot compare what is said on these boards (any message boards) to what goes on when people are thrown into the mix face to face and in the flesh. |

Yes we do - but this is a message board. We're not actively swaying anyone's opinion of people in there (who we'll never meet anyway - and don't read these boards - certainly not while they're in there anyway).

Maybe you think that behaviour is acceptable. Now, far as I can see, none of the campmates - past or present - are having a problem with the 'bitchy' Larry, which suggests that the kind, affectionate, hard-working Larry we see in camp is a more accurate picture of Larry than the one you Martin fans are trying to paint. Martin, on the other hand.... I'm resting my case there.

And yet there is more anger and indignation on these boards in a day than you see in weeks of IAC. They all talk behind each others backs, and every time they go to the bush telegraph they're trying to influence the viewers, often negatively. Martin was going ape about Adam wanting to cut the scones, even put him down for his pronunciation. To suggest that Larry is the only one who bitches is wrong.

Larry plainly is not interested in going up in anyone's estimation. If he was thinking about viewers and votes, he'd probably have bitten his lip and made nice for the sake of it. He didn't and I like him for his zero f*cks to give approach.
In the Ant and Dec and the Extra show interviews every camp mate who's left so far has said more or less the same about him in their own way. He's not easy to to live with, he has a sharp tongue and either has to be handled differently or they have to learn to ignore his behaviour. He said himself a couple of nights ago on an Extra show clip, he's now learning to treat people differently and for the better. I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed being a part of any intense and isolated team situation involving Martin's personality. Carol summed him up perfectly, he needs positive and firm handling and praise when he does well. In other words like a naughty demanding child and just as his wife's said too. Martin's more than capable of doing his share of bitching and also behind their backs in the bush telegraph. They've lived with him, we haven't. They all deserve a medal ![]() They've all also done exactly the same as Larry and talked about him behind his back. Who muscled in to comfort Larry? Scarlett and Martin, quelle surprise! He wanted to do the trial yesterday, regardless of the fact he'd already been chosen to do the DDC with Larry. Straight in again wanting even more of yesterday's airtime and typical of how he winds people up. Wayne just gave up, not wanting to kick off another Martin argument, which he was clearly itching to do after he'd just found out he was one of the bottom two with Jordan. I really hoped he wouldn't react like that and he didn't stop there with his petulance. On the other hand Larry is very well liked in camp and without question everyone who's left has spoken highly of him. He does a lot of work in camp and he knows how to do a lot more than the rest which they greatly appreciate and learn from. |

And that she approached and treated him with such patient grace and tolerance speaks volumes about her and continues to make me gutted that someone so deserving of Queenhood is gone! |

I have to agree
![]() Yes her laugh irritated me & there were times, imo, she was looking for airtime but her kindness to everyone, her positivity, her fairness & most of all the moment she paired herself up with Martin when she could have left looking like the unpopular kid at school kind of put the small niggles I had with her into perspective. Her interview with Ant & Dec was so genuine & warm, it's not going to be the same without her. |

Yes! King Larry for the win. After that display ... you know what - some people actually like that nasty behaviour.
There's only one petulant, spoilt brat in there and his name ain't Martin. |
