Can not bear him as Judge and "head" judge and hate how he tries to hide his nasty streak behind a 'what I'm just telling the truth' blah blah. Id rather he was on choreography corner or sticking to dance demos, but to claim he's disloyal for leaving scd is ridiculous!! He is entitled to cut his workload or aimoly work where.we he wishes!!

Anton on Good Morning Britain touting for the job. This idiot looks more ridiculous every week with his "spray on" hair.

Oh yes Gary is definitely a ballroom and Latin expert. Intelligent - definitely, but so is Len if only people realised it. Sophisticated? Let's just say he's possibly more Prince Harry than Prince William!!!
Thanks Kaycee!

Having just seen her on ITT with her sister, I would LOVE it to be Motsi Mabuse if they could tempt her away from Germany.
No because then we would probably have to loose Oti which I really don't want

Otherwise there would be cries of overmarked or she would feel she would always have to under mark Oti.

No to anymore dynasties on SCD too.

ha so true Kaycee - have known Gary since juniors (brother went to same trainer in the days gaz danced with Niki Cranshaw) when he told me about the possibility of being on SCD had to laugh - he is so much more a stickler for proper dancing
Gary was a dance champion himself when younger, based in Miami and uk he is a world renowned ballroom and latin judge - and has vast experience in salsa too. Having lived in Argentina (he also trains polo players) he has a smattering of AT as well. To disappoint you Gary considers himself to be a younger version of Len
Ballroom, Latin, Salsa AND AT? And a 'stickler' for proper dancing to boot?
Praying to all that glitters to make this happen.

I'm sure they will replace Len with someone from the Ballroom/Latin world. Darcey said they should in a small piece which is in next weeks TV Times, the one with Len on the front and Craig at different times. Actually Craig has said the lady who heads the Australian judges would be ideal.

There is an article here and a video which will give people an overview of Gary: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...-what-we-know/.

I agree with bendymixer in that Gary definitely seems to be an updated version of Len rather than a move in a different direction.

I'd like a woman judge to replace Len.

Yes, you're right, he is another Len, but this time with a nasal Sarf Laahndan accent, bouffant hair and a more smiley face. Sorry, he's a bit too naff for me and looks like he's stuck in the 1980s.

I am sure he is an expert in the ballroom field but I do wish we had someone a bit more classy like Tom Bergeron from DWTS with ballroom expertise.

Perhaps European?

This is all true - I hadn't thought it through.

I did warn you earlier in this thread that you wouldn't like him! . There are other people who I think would be more to your taste, not necessarily European ((although there are some interesting Europeans), but I honestly can't see Strictly going down that route. I think they want to go 'traditional'.

As I said, we'll get a 'Trigger's broom' replacement. Same handle, just a different head

He is def not stuck in the eighties his outlook on dancing is def bang on up to the minute which frankly is more important - a European - just no when UK is choc full of outstanding judges

I like the idea of an up to the minute outlook but I'm a bit concerned about this statement, bendy.

I’m a modern judge. I am a little bit more in favour of dancing to tunes that are not strictly a cha cha or a paso doble.
I am a little bit more lenient on the performance style. I am more strict on the technique than Len, and more lenient on the music side.'

I think the prospect of even more wacky music doesn't attract me. I'm not sure what he means by 'performance style'? Perhap he is more relaxed about out of hold/in hold and merging of contemporary dance elements especially given his connections with Arthur Murray? Maybe he is more open to more American Rhythm too? Not clear how this works in with being stricter on technique? I also notice he seems to prefer the DWTS format to Strictly.

Or is he just more adventurous WDSF than conservative WDC?

I wonder if Len is being nudged out, but being allowed to make it sound like it was his idea. I'm suspicious of his recent wording about Strictly - that they just have one year contracts so they can "chuck you out" if they want - something like that.

Speaking of being chucked out, I tried to pay close attention to Arlene Phillips on Andrew Neil's This Week yesterday - and I found her to be almost incoherent. Some long ramble about how it's different to move on when it's your idea but much worse when it's not your choice. Maybe it's me but something seemed wrong with her. She was just weird. (and I'm a fan - I hated it when they sacked her )

Not having that. He's been mooting leaving both DWTS and Strictly for years now and there was no doubt that something was going to have to go this year or next. If it came to a choice it was always likely to be DWTS that he stuck with because there are so many involved there that he's known from childhood and he's genuinely adored so there's no sense of 'any port in a storm' to it. Besides, if the Beeb had helped him on his way they would surely have had a replacement lined up beforehand not be left scrabbling around like they currently are with endless speculation ringing in their ears.

I think it's for the best. Time for some new judges. I wouldn't mind Craig going too. Some new judges will add some freshness to the show.
