And you might say "they'll implement it to combat the physical used market". But digital game sales are growing year on year. I believe digital to take up 60%ish of all game sales, so every year the pool of physical used games gets smaller and smaller. If Sony, MS can hold out a few more years (say 2020), physical game sales might only take up 20% of the market.
Physical sales are indeed declining year-on-year, but the decline is nowhere near what you suggest. The below link suggests that even by 2020, digital sales will only provide one third of revenue from sales of games. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...es-in-2020-pwc Keep in mind that the second-hand market statistics are not tracked as they don't add directly to revenue, but we all know ourselves that the used market is absolutely huge. |

Quick question about Skyrim
(sorry not really the right thread) Is it like Fallout in that if I put stuff in a chest it'll stay there forever? Run out of carry weight and not sure where to put anything without an owned property. |

I didn't get far through the PC game though as I spent all my time playing around with mods. I'm hoping the limited mod support on PS4 will keep me more focused on the game this time

I like the idea of Skyrim but I ban myself from buying any open ended RPG. I've seen what happened to people that play WOW - it's just like an addiction.

Do the Barrow Falls task and you will get the opportunity to purchase property in Whiterun. Other than that, I would recommend you use chests in one of the guilds/factions you belong to rather than a citizens chest. I have no proof but I was under the impression that random chests are a little more volatile than guild ones - at least that was the rumour for the PC version.
I have done the Barrow Falls stuff but the house is 5k or something and I've got about a quarter of that for now. Just headed up the mountain to the greybeards. Took bloomin ages to get up there!!! |

Thanks - I've sided with the Companions in Whiterun and left a bunch of stuff in a chest in their living quarters.

Looks like you are keeping pretty close to the main quest path. I'm hopping all over the shop. I'd already got 6k by the time I finished Barrow Falls. Damn my inquisitive nature
![]() It's always the way that the first three or four story missions are high-yielding in abilities, weapons, armour and "rights" (like use of shops) so it's worth doing first them to get a foothold. |

You're way off with that statistic, which is massively inflated by PC, mobile and tablet gaming.
The way I see it there are a number of very significant benefits to the game companies in moving over to digital sales. The obvious one is the removal of costs involved in the production, delivery, retail and return process. However the elimination of the second hand market would also be a massive boast to them. If you add in the fact that encouraging digital sales will no doubt increase DLC purchases, impulse purchases in general and that they could more effectively revenue maximize by varying prices according to demand then it would seem an absolute no-brainer to move over to that model. So . . .. the fact that they haven't done so must mean that there is a VERY good reason not to. It can only be that they consider traditional retail sales to be vital to their profitability. The console thing sort of makes sense but how many people are impulse buying consoles in store? They must believe that having their games promoted in-store is just too important. |

Got uc4 second hand of fleabay for £21 (+£10 nectar discount = £11!) pretty good consider uncharted 4 is this price on amazon - http://amzn.to/2gYI6uW
After wasting £20 on Alien isolation on the psn store (terrible game imo) I'll stick to physical as much as possible - they should have a timer on - full refund within 2 hours of using the game if u don't like it. Of course I know I'll like u4 but I'd rather get my money back by avoiding aaa digital games |
