Difficult one.

IMO Jay could never have pulled off that Samba but Danny could have danced Jays jive. For that reason i've voted for Danny.

It has to be said though that the samba had nowhere near the same impact on me as the Jive did.
I love Danny and yes he could have done Jay's jive but it wouldn't have had the same impact and I don't think it would have come across in the same way. It was such a wow moment but it was also laid back and as Darcy said sexy and cool.
I love, love, love. Danny's samba but Jay's jive will forever be the best dance I've ever seen on Strictly. I'm pretty sure of that.

Just to repeat myself, yet again: the reason Jay's Jive was so iconic was because it had no preconceptions was a complete left-field surprise. Danny, by definition, cannot hope to recreate the impact it had.

Danny all the way, he's a much better dancer than Jay,could never see what people saw in Jay and still can't.

Loved them both... lots but it's the samba for me...I'd rather not choose though as they are so different. I think the jived were compared this season ...did Jaliona do a samba though I can't remember?
No they didn't. Shame as I'd have liked to see Jay's samba - he was very good at Latin. Although whatever samba Jaliona produced would have been very different (not necessarily better or worse) to Doti's.

Very close call for me. Karen did say on CC that there were scattered errors in Danny's routine. My eye can't catch them, but it might indicate that Doti's routine is not in fact as good technically as Jay's jive.

Basically, I'm glad we have both of them. Real additions to the Strictly "wow" catalogue.

For me it's Samba all the way. It's so different, Oti took a risk and it paid off.
And it was Oti's performance that was mesmerising. She could have been dancing with anybody, I wouldn't have noticed who.

Samba. It was a different level of dancing. Amazing.

Sorry I must have missed that poll of every dance ever performed on Strictly. Oh wait...
142 votes (and counting) and only one teeny weeny voice of dissent - I'll leave it right there.

Goodbye.

Just to repeat myself, yet again: the reason Jay's Jive was so iconic was because it had no preconceptions was a complete left-field surprise. Danny, by definition, cannot hope to recreate the impact it had.
I know the samba is only a week old, but do you think it will, similarly, go down as an 'iconic' Strictly dance? And, if so, why? Just asking to balance things up a bit.

For me, the preconceptions of Danny & Oti's samba were greater as it was ridiculously risky - something which could have been a total revelation (which it turned out to be) or a spectacular failure.

The jive, as danced by someone of Jay's ability, was 'as safe as houses' by comparison.

I agree with this in fact I was thinking that in my prime I could have done Jay's jive but never in this life could I do Danny's samba.

I don't understand the obsession with comparing dances that have nothing to do with each other. They were both amazing in their own way.
I don't either.

Just an excuse to start yet another thread about nothing very much, as the OP had a habit of doing.

Danny is too 'obvious'

Struggling to see how any of Jay's dances qualify for "the ultimate" anything. That jive was enjoyable enough at the time but is by no means the best jive ever on Strictly, and Jay was the third-best dancer in his own final.

Jaliona's jive every day of the week! I was more excited with Danny's CCC as it was his first and i didnt know what to expect and it was so good, than i was the Samba, even though the Samba was amazing. Jays jive came out of nowhere and had me rewinding over and over, i still love to watch it now, whereas i was expecting Danny's Samba to be fabulous as many of his dances have been.

Both dancers are brilliant dancers. Jay is expressive and has beautiful balletic feet and arms, just mesmerising to watch. Danny is very technically brilliant and dances on the edge all the time. It all depends on taste. Dance is subjective just like every other form of art.

I don't think they are comparable, being completely different dances, but I definitely prefer Danny overall as a dancer.

Ann,

Imagine Len has left, Craig has been promoted to Head Judge and you have been given Craig's place on the Strictly judging panel. Jay & Danny are in the DO with these routines - who would you save based on that dance and that dance alone?

I think it's not easy to say. I would probably fall back on their previous performances, which is what I suspect the judges do in these cases even though they don't admit it, and save Danny.

Still the Jay & Aliona Jive for me personally although I love Danny & Oti's Samba as well in terms of its innovative choreography within the boundaries of the dance.

However, Jay's Jive came out of nowhere, it referenced and iconic movie, had fabulous music and it was stylish and cool.

Danny I expect to dance well every week and while Oti did a great job with a non traditional Brazilian style Samba, it didn't have enough of a surprise element to it for me to pick it first.

Oh for crying out loud, why bother making a poll with only two options and both dances are totally different, you can enjoy both you know.

Easily Danny's samba for me. Loved the vibrancy of it and how he and Oti flung themselves at it in such primeval fashion.

Very different dancers, Danny's a good hoofer and Jay's incredible dancing has artistry and a cool vibe. Danny dances with his feet, and Jay with his soul.
Spot on, Danny is technically more gifted than Jay and yet Jay leaves Danny wanting when it comes to expression and connectivity to the emotion and feeling of the dance.

For that reason I have voted Jay, he dances from the tips of his fingers down to his toes, Danny has done nothing for me in any of his dances even though I can appreciate his technical ability.

Because the OP is desperate for some dance, ANY dance, to beat one of Jay's. You've got to feel sorry
