Supposedly they are trying to arrange a deal for Redwater to be aired in America. I wonder if the name was picked with American audiences in mind?

Looking forward to this.

If it's a success expect more spin-offs.

Really? I heard about there being problems with the focus group not really liking it. I could well be wrong, I don't remember the source (it was probably on the forums), but I thought that it was only Shane Ritchie (and maybe Jessie Wallace/DTC as well) saying that they hoped it would have future series

I think the focus group story was probably somebody mischief making. No source was ever provided for that claim. The story about BBC executives being impressed was a scoop from one of those tabloids which are usually accurate when it comes to EastEnders related info and a "BBC Source" was cited which is usually accurate. They're apparently impressed and think the series could run and run. There are also various sources in the community of Dunmore East who have been told to expect the cast and crew to return in Spring 2017 for more filming.

ETA: I imagine they're waiting on ratings to give the greenlight to a series 2, but I believe the production people have been told to plan for that eventuality.

Did you want something like Ballykisswalford?

The town is made up like Walford is. They probably didn't want to opt for a name that was too similar too its surroundings areas though. You can imagine the papers

"The residents of the town Redlake are currently up in arms over the new TVs series Redwater. Redlake resident, Nora Batty (78) exclusively told us "The show makes out were all a bunch of thieving criminals. It's just wrong. We're nothing like that at all". The Redlake Council are worried what effect the Eastenders spin off may have on tourism in the area".

They obviously played it safe and I cannot say I blame them.

I like the idea of the show being set in Ireland rather than Spain as we might get more of a dramatic feel with a bit of comedy rather than the other way around.

The show itself sounds decent. The worst aspect of it is Kat and Alfie being part of the cast. Alfie's brain tumour is not going to kill him no matter what anyone says and the secret twin storyline for Kat is absolute rubbish that ruined an iconic storyline from the glory days of EastEnders.

In all honesty I hope it's a roaring success and continues for years and years if it means Alfie never appears in EastEnders again.

I really dislike Kat and Alfie as characters but am curious to see what Dunmore East looks like on film. It's quite near to where I'm from originally. I always thought it was a bit of an odd place but it is very picturesque
