As leaving camp members have pointed out, Martin isn't familiar with the game of IAC or strategies of wining over the public, he seems think there is some sort of combat/banter element. He's playing the game by a sort of perceived set of rules and without presenting a glossy image on himself on TV. This makes him far more interesting that the media-trained youngsters.
You know the saying 'you can take the micky out of friends but not enemies'? Well, it seems to me Martin thinks he is among friends, hence the backchat, high jinks and slapstick...except they treat him like he's not larking about, they treat him like Danny and Larry told them to. If we can see Martin is a harmless bellend trying to whip up playfights and banter, surely they can? I think there is a bit of Martin in all of us - it's refreshing to see. He is a bone fide twit - but they treat him like he's something much worse - Danny set the tone for this and, other than Carol, the rest have maintained Danny's stance without question - i.e they are sheep. I might have just talked myself into voting for Martin to win. It would be the most interesting winner for years. |

I've known people like Martin. Interesting personalities that can really grate. I've been guilty of going with the crowd and being a dick to them at times. It's something I'm not proud of but it happens.
I didn't like Joel tonight and I've really loved him all along, but I'm a bit disappointed that he isn't strong enough to resist the Martin digs. But then I wasn't always strong enough either. Larry took it way too far though and got nasty. I have also been the Martin and it's really horrible to be left out and belittled, no matter what age you are! Anyway, I'm rooting for him. Even if you loathe the man, he's made the show this year. |

Your right some people do join in , never have myself as hate any form of cliques, is childish playground bullies and not nice one bit, I feel for people who are different and dont fit in, but Martin has turned it on its head in there, and Im glad, hes lovely and Id love him to win, Larry has a lot to learn like he said about his ex wife who had to teach him how to treat his son properly as a father, he said he had to thank the women in his life for helping him to be a better father. his ex said how she always came second in their marriage to his career, now he has to learn how to treat people fairly and stop trying to be top man. instead of being a nice man.
I am usually in dog walking/running gear, covered in mud with a woolly hat on lol. I've always been a bit 'different'

He actually reminds me of me on a stag do in Thailand....everything I said was berated by the "lads" - I would pop off for a bit of alone time (which I usually like to do daily anyway) they were only sunbathing - but that was wrong. So I stayed to try and enamour myself to them. More pisstaking and berating. I'm a loner anyway - but they seemed unable to grasp the concept of doing anything on their own.
This stag do killed a 12 year friendship. |

Just watching on +1 and notice that Martin was the first to offer to share his treat with the two who were without. Lovely gesture.

Yes I noticed that, of course there will be no mention of his generosity.

Can you imagine how long they would have spent gushing praise over that if Chosen One had done it?

This stag do killed a 12 year friendship. I think the best thing for people in martins situation is just to remember not to change and be mentally rong with anything that comes up. There were people against him in there, belittled in front of others and generally treated unfairly. It wouldve been easier for him to leave but he stuck it out. He comes across genuine, he apologised when some confronted him and took it all on thd chin even when he had no need to apologise at times. Its interesting though that marti may get slated because hes eccentric so can get annoying yet someone like larry who is seen as the dad of the group was vindictive and a bully yet people cant see that. The itv2 show epitimises the average mindset and its bias and terrible to watch as theyre clueless. |

Its a very sad world when some are so taken in by a stronger character like Larry, who took on the mantle of Don as they called it, is Don , arse in Italian, they followed his every word , then Martin came in, to me Larry noticed he wasnt young enough to control, but Danny wanted to be friends with the main character who was then a potential winner,, Danny saw this and clung on for dear life, it was Larry or Scarlett to win in Dannys eyes so he went as the great protector for them both, big mistake, people can be users , sad but true and will do anything to better or further their own interests, The women in the Jungle had much more integrity thankfully, and saw what was going on, sadly they should have spoke up more, or maybe they did and it was edited, Carole seems to be the only one so far to be honest about what really went on in there, and she should still be in there, a great contestant and nice woman......Ive changed everything I felt about Carole....When some see themselves and what they were like when they come out of the Jungle, they might be shocked, and well they should, Martin can hold his head high, He was treated as the manbaby but then we saw a few of the other men cry but didnt see them being slated for it, did you?

Yes these situations crop up in everyday life all the time, like for me, standing in the primary school playground, waiting to collect my daughter, it is such a clique and, as i am not a member of the mothers mafia, i don't fit in. I'm ok with that. I don't dress to the nines in designer gear to drop off/pick up my child, my hair isn't perfectly in place and i don't have the money alot of these other parents do.

Carol's description of Martin and Larry in the paper this morning
Martin - Kind, a dedicated father who looks for the good in people. I wish him the very best of everything in life. Larry - Archetypal grumpy old man and the king of the camp fire. I think we can take from that who Carol preferred. |

nice with it though, I remember the same ones at school gates, they were fake and only interested in themselves and what other mothers thought of them.

I've wondered before if Martin has autistic traits or has a social and communication disorder. My child does and Martin reminds me of them. I hate the way he's been treated and it makes me feel very uncomfortable when I've watched it.
