Just heard that he was suffering from dementia.

So very, very sad

Horrible to think that two once-vibrant actors in Fawlty Towers (Andrew and Prunella Scales) have both suffered from dementia

And 'che?'

Hearing this on the news and then reading that there will a be a special tribute to 'Hilda Ogden' around Christmas had me thinking about my favourite characters - Hilda & Blanche (Maggie Jones) I went on wiki to read up on Maggie Jones and discovered that she died on this day - 2nd December 2009 - can it really be so long ago? Scarey how times flies. I absolutely loved her one liner put downs. I'm off to youtube to find some old Blanche clips!

Although not a central Corrie character, he featured in 27 episodes of Corrie as Norris's brother Ramsay, compared to Fawlty Towers lasting just 12 episodes in total.
