I wish the camp was a lot less like the Waltons and more like the Simpsons

I dont think i can take much more of all of the campmates being friendly to each other as it can become tedious and boring

One of the worst series ever.. How much more entertaining it was when you had a Helen Flanagan or Gillian McKeith causing controversy, being useless at the trials and keeping them hungry.

I don't think there has to be big fights or attention seekers for me to enjoy the show, but there is something about the niceness that I am finding a little weird/fake the last few days. I think I would rather an outright fight than all the snidey digs behind smiles that are going on this series.

The Simpsons doesn't imply constant fights, though. It implies a close family unit, big characters, and lots going on.
The opposite of this series isn't fighting, as some suggest.
But I agree with the rest of your post.

Well don't watch then. Get yourself a life. You are 21, get out and get a girl/boy/both rather than whining online because a light entertainment programme isn't exciting enough for you.

If by 'more like the Simpsons' you mean funnier, I would agree, not just this year but every year (apart from David Gest's year).

I'm only shocked it was the first time ever.

Why don't you take your own advice?

Did the Waltons have an old father figure bully boy who gathered his gang together, Dont think so.... Larry was no patriarch Ralph Waite, and never could be.

Ehm, because I like the show. I find it reasonably entertaining for a winter evening. And I don't continually complain about how boring it is. So what is your point?

I agree with you. I don't think most people want to see nastiness for its own sake. But I think they do want to watch a show where they feel that there is a danger of conflict. A sense of an edginess where it feels like anything could happen.
Otherwise what's to watch when celebrities' main concern is to appear 'nice' for the sake of appearances? Is that the objective and for which they are rewarded by the voters?
I suppose it could be described as a skill you could credit them for if that's the challenge.

You can't really argue with the voters if that's what they want. But for me the ability of the celebrities to behave splendidly isn't something which is dramatic enough to engage me. They do that all the time anyway as it's part and parcel of what their media careers entail from day to day when they're doing their normal celebrity rounds on television.

It was your reply to the other poster that bothered me. You told him he was 21 so should to go out and get a girlfriend/boyfriend.

When some of us prefer being single it just seemed like a simplistic narrow-minded thing to say.
