Whilst I don't necessarily condone this mothers outrage - teachers deserve respect and I can't believe this mother couldn't have done more to stop her daughters behaviour ....

https://uk.yahoo.com/news/mum-called...144338525.html

.... lots of us have met people whose names make us chuckle.

I remember someone I met at a work convention shaking my hand and introducing themselves as Phil Mycock. The voice inside my head said "I'd prefer not to" but my professional self somehow managed to shake his hand and not burst out laughing.

Anyone else met someone with a name they have struggled not to laugh at?

Ms Butt? That's a laughing matter to our kids? FFS. After South Park and 'Miss Chokesondick', surely nothing less crude should provoke mirth.

When I was at Junior School the head master was called Mr Brunt so it got a obvious nick name just as my year left he left to and his replacement was called Mr Hunt so no need to change the jokes and rhymes.

There was also a teacher called Miss Footit again obvious what she was nick named

Not someone I ever met but when I was visiting a church in London as part of researching my family tree I saw an inscription for someone called Fanny Tickle. Guess that in 1899 when she died that name would not have invoked the sniggers it would now.

Give the book "Potty, Fartwell and Knob" by Russell Ash a look-over if you want a whole bloc of name-based shenanigans.

A favourite of mine, which I've posted on DS about on a previous occasion, is when a Brian Dick decided to name his son Charley - then paired it with middle names including Horse (a play on "Charley horse"?), creating the unbeatable Charley Willard Horse Dick:

Bonus points: Charley's mum is Dacia Tomasket. I think I saw James May driving one of those on TV...

I used to work with a guy whose surname was Higginbotham, which did make me snigger when I first started working with him.

Nominative determinism is a theory that people grow into their given names . . .

I was at school with a kid named Wayne Kerr, and in the same class was Roy Sole.
Nothing wrong with that until he signed his name, R. Sole.
You have to wonder how their parents couldn't see it.

I have that book, got it for Christmas a while ago. Spent the whole day laughing.

Another who has probably been mentioned somewhere on here. Dick Trickle, an American race car driver who died 3 years ago.

We had a Miss Totty in Primary school (tottie being a slang word for tiny poos)

On a side note I love reading Charles Dickens, the book I'm reading currently has a character in it called Dick Swiveller.

Not a person - but a street.

The name of my street was 'Upper Road'. At school the teacher was asking each boy where they lived and when it came to my turn I said - Upper Road.
He replied - "Don't try and be funny with me" !
