Richard Ayoade, David Tennant or Patrick Stewart for me. |

Merchant was terrible presenting it. I know it was a Celeb version but they just never shut up the whole show and inane chatter took the place of games.

Good news if it's to come back but they really need to return to the original format: 15 games rather than 10(?), fast-paced, minimal chatter and a host who works on a less-is-more principle. O'Brien had it spot on but Merchant spent way too much time making jokes and hogging the camera when we should have been watching the games.

Yeah Merchant wasn't great but wasn't bad either. Wasn't keen on Maureen Lipman as Mumsey either but it was still a good attempt. Makes you wonder if the one being built in Manchester will be used for the TV version as it is being built where Granada TV used to be.

It could be a woman you know. I'd go for Susan Calman or even Sara Pascoe - I don't really rate her as a comedian but I think she could work in this role.

I'm thinking of Zoe Ball in a skin-tight PVC catsuit and 6 inch heels.
This is nothing to do with Crystal Maze, that's who's image is in my mind,.......... most of the time. |

Stephen Merchant would be acceptable.
Please don't do Tennant!! That would be awful - I couldn't bear the starey-eyes default expression.

Heaven knows I adore Susan Calman - indeed I'm leading a campaign to have her declared a national treasure - but no, just no!

The one they used for SUTC is just too small to use for a full series. Though it was such an impressive achievement by those who crowdfunded to get that Maze up and running.

Hopefully they'll build the full size studio sets again if it does come back as the ones used for the special were too small for a full series

Channel 4 are just going to borrow the Crystal Maze experience venue, same as the celeb special, but they claim a bigger verision is being constructed in Manchester. I doubt it will be anything like the originals' scale and detail. Bringing this back is a bad idea if Channel 4 don't have the guts to finance a purpose-built for television maze. |

Patrick Stewart would be an inspired choice.

One BBC Four though? Some personalities are so obnoxious and loud they will go against the spirit of the channel.
