Good sing choices for Matt, Saara and 5AM, but Emily has the depressing Mad World - presumably her efforts to go more uptempo last week didn't translate to votes, so she's slowing right down to funereal pace again.

Im kinda hoping that Emily plays a blinder and does the actual Tears for Fears version. That would be the most unexpected thing to happen in XF history

what is the pimp slot?
Is that too relevant anymore given voting opens at the beginning of show? |

Mad World (the Gary Jules version) is a total dirge - not sure what Emily can do to that song, to persuade people she's a potential winner. The John Lennon track is a bit dirgy too - at least in the chorus. Very little vocal range required for that one, so there's almost no opportunity for her to sound impressive. However, I wouldn't put it past Simon to stick a dozen cute kids around her for the Lennon song chorus! As much as I agree with the 5AM backing track problems, their song choices are good enough to make them competitive, but it will all depend on what they do with the sing-off - public vote will likely save them, judge's votes won't.
Saara's songs are brilliant - almost everyone predicted the Mariah song, and I'd seen a lot of people wanting to hear Chandelier again. That audition was a long time ago, and I think staging and performance will add hugely to what were already amazing vocals. the song is so tough to sing, and Saara is completely capable, that I think it might be a winning moment for her. Matt's choices are fine, but terribly dull. How many versions of Silent Night can people stomach?! The other song will be enough to get him through, I'd imagine - current, but not so known that he can't get the 'made it your own' or 'would have a hit' comments from the judges! My predictions - Matt and Saara through, Emily and 5AM for the chop - all depends on how they manage (fix) the sing-off!

Interested choice of songs, in regards to Emily doing Mad World, didn't Aiden Grimshaw do a brilliant haunting version back in 2010 ?.

So, Emily is going full John Lewis now. I think its a mistake myself, but I am not sure what else she can do, she looked so awkward with a slightly more upbeat song last week.
Matt doing Silent Night, another song previously done by Little Mix, the last attempt was awful. His voice is too thin, Perrie filled the wembley stage with the high notes, he can't do that. 5 am miming to Stevie Wonder, they are what they are, can't seem them getting through. I think Saara has the best song choices. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwfNexdaIdU He was good, connecting with the lyrics and actually bringing some energy to the performance. It seems like a lazy song choice for Emily - the same sort of thing she's done every week. Why is Simon so averse to her singing something cheerful? |

Love Saara's choices. Hope she will get to the final.
Hate 5ams Christmas song. They are going to murder it! No surprise there with Emily. If she gets through to the final she can say she got there by slowing every song down every week and never ever dancing. I think Matt is safely through. |

Adam Lambert had a great performance with "Mad World" and Aiden Grimshaw had a good one, too. That said, Emily isn't that great of a vocalist, so this could be a disaster.

Some song choices as revealed on Lorraine
Saara - Chandelier Matt - Say You Love Me Emily - Mad World 5 After Midnight - Signed Sealed Delivered Saara I'm looking forward to as I think she could still sing Chandelier well live. What is Matt's song? And 5 After Midnight will still face some vocal challenges on that song just by the fact that Stevie Wonder puts strong vocals on his songs. |

I think Saara will do amazing with her songs, especially Chandelier but I hope the judges don't use the fact Saara has now done two songs she's done already against her, her judges houses and now her audition.

If I was her I'd do the Tears For Fears version so to avoid a comparison with his version which is actually my overall favourite version of Mad World full stop, it's probably one of only a few cases that's actually happened to me on this show. I like War Is Over aswell, but I don't think that Emily will sing it well at all. |

So predictable, but ok.
I'm not looking forward to 5AM jiggying to Signed, Sealed, Delivered, or either of Emily's performances. I love the songs she's given, but I have no confidence in her ability to do justice to them. 5AM might be able to deliver on Stay Another Day, we'll see. Saara will predictably pull off a very competent, professional and skillful performance with both of her songs, both of which are the most difficult of any of tomorrow's song choices. I'm both looking forward to it and also not, because we all know what we're going to get and it will be amazing, no surprises. Matt's Silent Night has a danger of becoming gimmicky with the overuse of his falsetto, if he falls into that trap, or it could be just a bit boring. It probably won't be anything special though, the song is better suited for a more classical singer. I don't know the other song he's doing, but let's hope it's more energetic and fun than Silent Night. |

What is Matt's song? Lauren Murray did it at last year's 6CC. Also performed by Sasha Simone on the Voice UK S4 and a couple times on the Voice US in the last 2 years. |
