So glad Larry went before Martin
Larry's face was a picture when they said 'Larry it might be you,' he looked proper stony-faced! And then when it was revealed it WAS him, he looked so annoyed and disappointed. Like he couldn't BELIEVE it was him and not Martin!
Martin is a slightly irritating man, and he would grate on me a bit I think, but the more I have seen of him, the more I think he is just an insecure little boy, desperate to be liked. He even said (a few days ago-ish,) that he always got picked last for teams at school, and was chuffed to be one of the first picked for something in IAC. (Can't remember what it was he was picked for now...) So I think he is someone who is insecure and was also bullied. Larry however, comes across as the ex school bully. He is tall, strongly built, slender, good looking, and confident, but doesn't have a nice personality. I thought he was OK at first, but he has come across in the past week or so, as having an entitled-to attitude, and he is also lazy. In addition, bitching about people and picking on seemingly weaker people seems to be a past-time of his. I know some old(er) people (over 60,) have a tendency to speak their mind, even if it DOES mean offending or upsetting people, and everyone has a well meaning aunt or elderly relative or neighbour who just HAS to tell you you are getting fat, or you have a shit job. But a few are just cruel, and Larry is in this demographic. Not a nice man, and I am glad he has gone. It would have been a travesty, if he had won. |

Know what you mean my mum was famous for hurting feelings a lot, but then if I remember right she was always like that and nothing to do with age, Im almost 70 and hate to upset or hurt anyone, so for me its not an age thing and hope it never will be, I dont see why getting older gives anyone the right to put others down .

My best friend's mother is also mean to her, and bitches about her weight, and her mothering skills (!) amongst other things... However, strangely, she doesn't have a bad word to say about her to other people. (?) Yeah age IS no excuse, but it does seem to be older people who have that sharp tongue! Not all older people of course, but what I mean is if someone IS sharp tongued and cruel with their words, it's more likely to be someone over 60, than someone of 30. Although many people over 60 are not mean with their words. (I've probably stopped making sense now LOL!) |

I think Larry will have lost a lot of admirers (if he had any to begin with) after his frankly weird and nasty personality was revealed.

![]() It has, now, been blown out of all proportion - with Martin making some extra money out of his, 'jungle story.' They were just two very different types of blokes - who didn't get on .....and .....much of it was taken out of context - Martin was annoying & Larry, occasionally, reacted, due to his sensitivities regarding the camp. Larry was a team player - Martin didn't understand that concept !! These jungle goings- on........do not make Larry Lamb Public enemy Number 1

I am still a Larry 'admirer' based on his entire career.

By constantly marginalizing, ridiculing, and dismissing you, she or he keeps you off-balance and maintains her superiority. The aggressor deliberately fosters the impression that there’s always something wrong with you, and that no matter how hard you try, you are inadequate and will never be good enough. Significantly, the manipulator focuses on the negative without providing genuine and constructive solutions, or offering meaningful ways to help. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...l-manipulation |

I am so glad too - he showed the kind of person he was by picking on someone who reacted differently to him, in fact downright nasty. I wanted him to win at first but was glad Martin beat him.

This is group manipulation who does it remind you of.
Your former friends are childish people, who haven’t grown up yet and learned the value of adult relationships. But you do, and you deserve better. It’s usually due to one of them being immature and very insecure. They encourage the others to be their partners in crime, and willingly or unwillingly they go along with it. Sadly, there is nothing you can do about it, as you’ve already been shut out http://www.thefriendshipblog.com/slo...have-happened/ |

I am sure that both Larry & Martin are OK guys in real life.
I haven't read Martin's article...but...IMO....he wasn't bullied. I can understand Larry being miffed at Martin going ahead after the dingo dollar challenge & claiming sole glory. Anyway, they are both grown men, FGS. This time, next week, when we have a Queen Scarlett......all will be forgotten

The bit about the dingo dollar challenge. Throughout the challenge, Larry was hostile towards Martin (incidentally, Martin gives more details of that in the article) and didn't want anything whatever to do with him. We saw that, didn't we? No denying it. So suddenly, Larry claims to have wanted to return to camp united in victory? Nah, sorry, that's not what he wanted. He wanted it exactly the way it happened, so that he could then turn on Martin with his pathetic accusations, and pretending to be hurt. Typical bully behaviour.

Larry played a blinder playing up to the cameras that morning saying Martin had upset him. Oh how priceless that was and I still think that's what Martin was referring to when Wayne went off on his "I'm cheesed off" rant. So he'd gone from shouting OTT, to sarcasm to more shouting, to tears over a camp mates departure to bitching to laying it on thick about being upset. He knew exactly what he was doing and itsMartin who's called a sociopath!!

It's all there on camera, though. Well, put it this way, there is enough on camera, and there are loads more things that occurred off camera (Carol, for one, witnessed them).

Larry started throwing toys out of his pram, in Martin's direction, as soon as he felt that his position as male leader of the group might be threatened.
There are some great books by Robert Ardrey eg ' The Territorial Imperative', comparing human to animal behaviour. Wayne and Joel deferred to Larry. They rolled over. Danny clearly wanted Martin out too but tried being verbally aggressive. It didn't make any of them look good. In fact, it made them look weak because they'd not been able to dominate in positive ways. I have more respect for Carol particularly than for Larry. However annoying Martin was, dealing with him wouldn't have been difficult for anyone who didn't feel that their status was being threatened. Those who felt more secure generally, with good reason, didn't go on the attack or join in. Carol for one, wasn't scared by the male muscle flexing or shouting etc. What is real strength, in a leader ? Scrapping verbally ? In other situations that might increase to physical scrapping. That's the animal, way. As humans, we should hope for more than that from people. Unfortunately lots of people admire, nastiness. It's easier than countering it. |

I'm glad too, he came across quite self righteous. Though he did save my now favourite Scarlet.
