So Peter ingel now has to tarnish the legacy of this great show and say Kelly and Zack would be divorced now. Well unless you actually make a episode they arent. I doubt they d be divorced now more likely have 3 kids and be happy.

There seems to be alot of saved by the bell news items lately. No idea on the slagging it off or appologigising over something that was a storyline years ago. Does it really matter now if Zack talked down to Jessie or if he dressed up as a indian. It was years ago!

He's got a book to sell. And apparently it does matter though it was years ago ... to you! Just on pure statistics they probably would be divorced. That's life!

But how? They wouldnt be divorced. Plenty of people who dated at school in the 90s are still married now.

If theres no episode to show it then it never happened. You cant just make up wild theories just to sell a book and piss the fans off.

'great show'?

Was there another, better 'Saved By The Bell' that I never saw?

Oh, for goodness sake. Do you even know what the word 'probably' means?

There is a higher than 50% probability that a couple who dated in school in the 90s are separated by 2016. That's all he said. He didn't say they are divorced. He said they probably would be, if they actually existed (a distinction which you seem to be less clear about than most!)

I'm sorry if it comes as a shock to you that not everybody has a happy ever after. Perhaps you should stop watching so much fairy story TV?

Agreed.

Compared to its contemporaries, it was the headline act.

Malbu, Ca., USA High, Running the Halls and Hang Time aren't as often remebered as Saved By The Bell.

I'd say the only second to SBTB was California Dreams.

I was always mixed on that show, largely due to too many cast changes and network interference in the show's premise.

I knew loads of people who were like Kelly & Zack at school who eventually married and they are still married now.

He might have said this and might have said that but they probably wouldnt.

The only time I felt SBTB went bad was when the regulars left and it was called The New Class.

Screech & Belding only at the school wasent the same.

I did like Saved by the Bell: The College Years and it did have a good intro

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD8YSpsLtA0

I only started enjoying it though from the second episode when Kelly joined and Zack and Kelly did have a good scene near the end of the series:

I agree. I was never keen on the new class

I did like The College years and the wrap up movie that followed.

Yup the College Years was a worthy successor, and the TV moive was the best way to end it.

Yeah The New Class was really riding on the coat tails. I guess they thought "if Star Trek can do TNG, then so can we".

I wonder what happened to the first "new Zack" and "new Screech" IIRC thhe was only it in one season and got replaced.

EDIT: I just looked up them both. Nothing on Robert Sutherland Telfer (Scott) but the guy who played Weasel (Isaac Lidsky) lost his sight in '93. however....
He is the only blind person to serve as a Law Clerk for the U.S. Supreme Court. He currently serves as CEO of ODC Construction, Florida’s largest residential shell contractor.

Funnily enough The College Years started on The Vault yesterday! Though they seemed to skip the pilot episode and treated the episode where Kelly joined as episode one, which made it quite confusing.

As average as the shows were, one thing I've always found fascinating is how 'Screech' was played by the actor. By the time of 'The College Years', his performance is quite 'normal', for want of a better word, but when he goes back to Bayside for the New Class, it's ridiculously over the top, with not one jot of believability.

The College years made sense because when kids leave high school they move onto college and it had some of the original cast and followed the lives of Zack, Slater & Kelly.

The movie was the perfect way to end the series.

Even when I bought the boxsets I grumbled for a while on whether to purchase the new class series.

I was a massive fan of saved by the bell and all the other Engels shows like Dreams, hang time etc.. I agree at college years and the TV movie were worthy continuations of the show, I wish they had made more college episodes though.

I didn't mind the new class, though it wasn't quite the same and the constant changes of cast members was annoying. The occasional cameos were nice.

Also I agree it was ridiculous how over the top they made screech in the new class after he had become more normal by the time he hit college.

I thought mario Lopez/Slater was gorgeous when i watched this when i was about ten.
He has aged really well, still incredibly hot, though he has lost the mullet.

Im sure Elizabeth berkley/Jessie thought she was on the road to the A-list starring in showgirls.

Tiffany Thiessen/Kelly has a cookery show thats on the food network occasionally.

It’s customary for me to express my love for Saved By The Bell every time it comes up in this forum.
I still watch the occasional episode today and still find it very watch-able.
I also agree with the consensus here – the original series was great, the College Years was a good spin-off, and the New Class was fairly poor (although it lasted 7 seasons with 143 episodes so it was doing something right!).

The Lifetime movie ‘The Unauthorised Saved By The Bell Story’ from a couple of years ago is worth a watch if you were a fan.
As is the E! True Hollywood Story of Saved By the Bell if you can track it down.

And the gorgeous Mark-Paul Gosselaar has been in a fair few shows...

'NYPD Blue', 'Commander-in-Chief', 'Raising the Bar', 'Franklin & Bash' and now 'Pitch'.

Why the heck is Mark-Paul Gosselaar appologising for something that happened in the show 2 decades ago?
