The Penguins of Madagascar is on this year
Premiering on Christmas Eve at 4.50pm! (BBC1)

Although, to be fair, it will probably be on next year as well!

How does Call the Midwife get commissioned for Christmas so early, watched it once, I would prefer to watch an hour of the old test card, with the girl and the clown

Because it's one of BBC's most watched dramas and when they announced it had been commissioned for 3 new series they said each series would include a Christmas Special

I'd rather watch Call the Midwife than Holby City, Casualty or EastEnders.........

Mr Hodges at RT HQ suggested that next years double issue will cover 16-29 December 2017 ( rather than 23 Dec - 5 Jan 2018).

16-29 Dec being weeks 51 and 52 of the calendar year.

They havent done a 16-29 Dec since 1995.

I love predicting the schedules for next year and looking back to see if I was correct.

2017 Christmas Day BBC1

15:00 The Queen
15:10 FILM: Big Hero 6
16:45 BBC News/Weather
17:00 Doctor Who
18:00 BBC Animation
18:30 EastEnders
19:00 Call The Midwife
20:15 Strictly Come Dancing
21:30 EastEnders
22:00 Mrs Browns Boys

Much of the same

Jurassic World I think Channel 4 will get as it's Universal.

But then Minions and Despicable Me are both Universal and ITV both got them so I've no idea how that works!

I think the BBC have Maleficent.

The film contracts are so confusing!
ITV have all the Jurassic Park films

Judging by ITV this year, I assume ITV next year will have a Harry Potter film on every night, feels a bit like Groundhog Day.

Here you go already confirmed for Christmas 2017 :

Upstart Crow Christmas Special

The Highway Rat (animation)

Call the Midwife
Could "The Highway Rat" be on the 2017 RT cover? Am I correct in thinking that there has been an "animation" theme in the past few years' covers?

Yes. Apart from 2014.

2012: Snowman and the Snowdog
2013: Snowman andthe Snowdog
2015: Shaun the Sheep
2016: We're Going On a Bear Hunt

A bit uninspiring isn't it, despite this year's cover being really nice.

CTM seems to have an extended run time each year, so next year we could be looking at 2hrs

Probably on ITV they'll be POG Dogs, Victoria Christmas Special, hopefully and Ant & Dec Christmas Show.

WAYNE ARNOLD and his wife Vanessa Arnold are a Syncis power couple in the making. Wayne moved from Belize to the United States in 1991 in pursuit of a better future, like most foreigners. He started his career in the retail industry and worked his way up the corporate ladder for 12 years. During that time, he realized there was more to life than a 9 to 5 job and living paycheck to paycheck. After reading the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, Wayne began seeking a business opportunity. He started his own business in the mortgage industry in 2004 – with no knowledge of the industry, just moving by faith and a burning desire to win the money game. Within a short period, he was making more money in one month than one year in retail. However, he did not manage his money well, so when the market crashed in 2008, his life and income also came crashing down. He lost everything and found himself barely supporting his family. But there was one thing he knew – he was never going to get caught in the rat race of Corporate America again. While picking up the pieces, Wayne was introduced to the financial services industry – one of the best business models in America. The leadership, like-minded entrepreneurs, and financial education are world class. The opportunity to build a business for yourself, but not by yourself, has allowed him to thrive in this industry. Wayne believes this company supports him with strong mentorship and training. Most of all, he has been afforded the privilege to do what he loves, which is training and developing people to discover their God-given abilities so they can pursue their dreams and set their own families on the path to financial freedom.

I hope not - I prefer the soaps to be in 2 bits not one long chunk at a stupid time, suppose it will largely depend on how it rates this year in that slot.
