ITV had 101 Damations and Ch4 had Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. Both great family films.
I know you are more BBC inclined, but there were other options available that another episode of Pointless to watch. 4.50 Winter Wipeout 5.50 Film: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe 8.00 Merlin 8.45 EastEnders 9.20 Outnumbered 10.00 Lapland Well, that is what you call an excellent Christmas Eve line-up. Or: 5.15 Film: Lady and the Tramp 6.30 BBC News 6.45 Film: A Christmas Carol 8.15 Merlin 9.00 EastEnders 9.30 Outnumbered 10.10 Mrs. Brown's Boys 10.50 The Vicar of Dibley Well, these were the last two great Christmas Eve schedules. Since 2013 they really have been mediocre. The two schedules I have posted were 2011 and 2012. |

All channels were disappointing on Christmas Eve night. I didn't get to see any movies as I had to work! Penguins of Madagascar was not a good offering and 101 Dalmations was already on Christmas Eve on BBC1 back in 2014. Remember this schedule:?
4.50 Winter Wipeout 5.50 Film: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe 8.00 Merlin 8.45 EastEnders 9.20 Outnumbered 10.00 Lapland Well, that is what you call an excellent Christmas Eve line-up. Since 2013 they really have been mediocre. The two schedules I have posted were 2011 and 2012. For the few years ITV's Christmas Eve schedule has been poor. Bar 2014 with Spectre, and this Christmas Eve where they made so much more of an effort. So I'm not quite sure what else ITV would have done to entice you to watch the channel? 101 Dalmations did indeed premiere on BBC1 in 2014, but that was 2 years ago. Do you not watch films more than once? Those schedules above were indeed excellent. Did you watch BBC1 on Christmas Eve then, or were you working until late evening? The fact Pointless got 4.5m in Christmas Eve and a Peter Kay clip show 3.8m and beat everything on ITV, tells me that viewers will watch mostly anything on BBC1 Christmas Eve, (yes David Walliams Shirely Bassey only got 2.5m, but it still was only 1m viewers from BOAF) and they don't really have to put all that much effort in. Pointless will likely be a Christmas Eve figure for the next few years. What would you choose for BBC1 and ITV on Christmas Eve? |
