Does anyone else think Sean O'Connor will leave soon

I don't see him lasting long, the show is cringey to watch and boring. I think the reason they are bringing this new guy on board is cause of the negativity the show is receiving.

this episodes dreadful, they should be embarrassed.

It might be deadly boring but I don't think it's that far gone.

How ironic that that this thread was created minutes before that ending.

May I point out the best Episode by Kirkwood that was the death of young billy and then it went downhill very fast.

My comment wasn't regarding the quality of the episode or that ending, which I'm a little skeptical about to be honest. I just think it's a funny that Alex Marwood, who has created repeated threads talking about how boring EE is at the moment, literally posted this minutes before the most random and shocking scene we've had all year.

I really have to wonder how some people watch what you'd imagine are their favourite shows, given they devote a couple of hours a week to them. Presumably they're fans as they came onto a soaps forum..... but do they not listen to the dialogue and pick-up on what the writers are doing and enjoy how characters react much as you'd expect them to (or otherwise) and how they interact with their friends, colleagues and neighbours? Seems to me that some people are only interested in sensational action scenes and nothing else. Genuinely curious.

(And no, SOC won't leave soon, the BBC would have to be mad)

Spot on.
And it's frustrating, because these people don't see things blowing up or punch ups every five minutes, they create thread after thread moaning about how boring it all is.
A bit like empty vessels, they make the most noise.

As for Sean O'Connor, no I don't think he has any plans to leave.
He has the makings of a great Exec Producer and I think the show is only going to thrive under him.

BIB I think this is a bit unfair tbh. I am a huge EE fan and have been for all its 31 years and I have been critical of the direction of the show lately and have been finding it boring. I am, however. not 12 years old either, so am able to criticise the bits that I think there are problems with, whilst praising the improvement such as character interaction and characterisation and the writing for certain characters. And no I'm not one of these people who want to see endless stunts, fights and action. All I ask for is some drama in between and a bit more rapidity and fluidity to the story lines where some are dragging at a snails pace with no real consequence to the characters involved.

I realise there are some youngsters on the forum who are used to the faster pace and more drama and action in their soap as that's now what they're used to so they expect it. There are some long term viewers and slightly older viewers that have had legitimate concerns with some stuff lately such as myself, Harlowe and sw and we don't deserve to be spoken to the way you have, this after all is a discussion forum.

Thanks

All good valid points and I don't disagree but I do try to differentiate between those who post constructive criticism and those who just post along the lines of "it's boring, there's nothing happening". It may not always come across clearly but, personally speaking, my frustration is with people who can't (won't?) see past stunts and sensationalism. There's a lot more to enjoy without purely focusing on shootings, stabbings, car crashes and explosions. I get that people have become used to regular stunts but that's not what soaps were ever really about (and yes, I know it's not 1985 ) but they lose their impact when they're more than an occasional treat and thus have to become bigger and better to achieve the same result. Surely last night proved that?

They've not collapsed either, they're pretty robust. I'd imagine the BBC is quite prepared for a dip during the transition period, so they'll not have cause for any immediate concern.
