Fat is where the flavour is. Cooking meat without it makes it less tasty. I'd recommend to try it once, throw away the fat after the meal is done if you have to.

Turkey every Xmas surely like me some of you lot must be fed up with It. Something different like grilled fresh salmon strakes. Forget Xmas tasteless pudding how about fresh ice cream with fresh or frozen red berries. I love Eaton mess
Without the egg whites or meringues
Surely Eton Mess without a meringues is just berries and cream? And Salmon steaks aren't really a treat are they?

Most supermarket salmon is pretty awful. Its farmed in cages so the fish never build proper muscle tone. Thats why it is so soft and jelly-like. Its OK in a fish-pie, but other than that ........

Tesco Hot Smoked Salmon Fillets (the ready to eat ones) are very good. They have gone up from £3 to £4.50 for two fillets in less than a year mind but they are still worth it.

Morrisons are doing a turkey leg and thigh for £1.50. I just die a thigh in the pressue cooker with carrots,. celery and onions. Job done, and tasty too.
Tesco do 2KG of frozen chicken portions for £3.20

Very nice and superb value IMHO, assuming that you have the freezer space.
Just chuck them in the oven basically...

I suppose these bits are coming off turkeys that have just had the breast removed. Some people just buy the breast - or crown as some call it.

I actually prefer thigh meat to breast. It's much tastier.
For years I always bought a turkey legs ..wings the whole thing. Then one year I thought Id try a turkey crown ...must better . Hardly any waste only thing I miss is the wish bone lol. I go to a local carboot and bought my turkey crown for £12 and its a good size. Been in my box freezer for a few weeks. Got a big ham as well that didnt cost much more.Looking at the prices in the supermarkets Im glad I got them a bit ago.

I prefer the dark meat myself.

Turkey legs, breasts, etc. are good prepared in a slow cooker. You can google for recipes.

The slow cooking is good to cook the breasts; it turns out very tender!

My local butcher sells boneless turkey leg which I used to in place of pork in a pulled turkey recipe in the slow cooker. It shreds up nicely.

Good for mincing too and using for chilli, lasagne, etc.
