I don't get why he is considered a victim? a victim of what exactly? because I didn't see anything he could be considered a victim off, unless you count being a victim of his own self pity.

Nope. The gushing on here and his elevation to sainted victimhood was nauseating. I'm glad he's gone.

I think I must be lacking some kind of perception skills - I just don't get the great love for Martin but neither do I find him irritating or difficult - for me he was just another campmate (one of the least likely for such polarising opinions I would have thought). I also do not have the (irrational -to me) irritation that others have over Scarlett's appearances - if it wasn't her it would be someone else (and they would all love to have been cast in the role of camp narrator - even Martin ).

So no I am not going to particularly miss him and to be honest I don't miss any of them when they are gone, my interest only lasts whilst they are in camp and their interactions with the others. He could have won if enough people wanted him to - but they didn't so he didn't.

No, I won't miss him. Martin is the kind of person I would hate to be stuck in a lift with, or on a long journey, or at a dinner party or a works night out. And no, he couldn't have won, since not enough people voted for him.
What? You wouldn't like to hear more of his riveting stories like how he won his task?
I dread to think what his wife's going to be put through.
Me me me me me me me and meeeeeeee...............good old Martin
Do the public miss people after they're gone?
No I won't miss him, no he couldn't have won because he didn't get enough public votes and he was in the bottom two for 4 consecutive nights.
Out of who's left I'd like Sam to win and she's not one of the chosen 4 who've been given max airtime, Scarlett, Martin, Adam and Joel.

I agree with all of the above(apart from your perception skills as I don't know you )

Most people will take the side of someone they perceive as being treated unkindly. It's just human nature. I have to admit, I wouldn't have been that interested in Martin if he hadn't brought out my protective instincts.

He was a bully, luckily the rest of them twigged on & shut him down quick.

It was exaggerated to the point that all balance and rationality went out the window. Martin could never be in the wrong and anyone who dared say boo to him was demonized in the most disgusting terms.

Yes, certainly in my case, the sight of someone being picked on stirs up very strong feelings, especially when there's nothing you can do about it.

And of course Saint Martin was never at fault.

Everyone has faults, but I wouldn't say he did anything that deserved the kind of behaviour we saw from Lamb and the sheep.

I'm glad he's gone if for no other reason than not having the stomach for any more cloyingly petulant, tear-stained 'Poor Saint Martin' threads on here. Good riddance to the latter.

Absolutely delighted that Sam made the final, along with Joel.

I'm glad he's back with his family, having made it to the top 6, and can now see that many of us were on his side.

I am missing him already, I had a Martin fix this morning by watching HUTH repeats on BBC 2.

I've switched off after Saint Martin's 😇 departure. I would've loved him to have won, he seems like a top bloke!

100% agree! If Martin had won, this forum would have been like the Politics forum on brexit night x 10!

Of course he was a bully and no-one should tolerate arrogance and insults. I dread to think what we didn't see. The usual polarised aspects of Martin's dysfunctional personality type, obnoxious arrogant shit and if that fails, faux subservient victim with very little in between.
From, I refuse to collect water and I'll do just as I please to, I'll play the victim and stay up all night to deal with their bliddy water, make them feel guilty for picking on poor me and not letting me have my own way.

Me me me? ... Yes, how selfish of him to offer to share his food with those who had none, and to comfort those who had been absolute ba5tards to him.

Yes, I'll miss him. There aren't enough truly nice people in the world.

Well I liked Martin. I'm not going to miss him of course because I won't be watching it now he's not in.

No there was never a chance of anyone other than Scarlett or Adam winning.

Good grief! I hope you don't hate anyone you know. Such vitriol for someone on an entertainment programme.

I really grew to like Martin, which surprised after his bad start of being a bad loser, moaning about the food and being really negative. I think he turned out a really nice guy and the treatment he got was unfair. I did understand a few of the early arguments but his last few days got spiteful and he couldn't do anything right in their eyes. Like Larry was totally horrible to him and then Wayne expected him to be all respectful and deferential about him when he left!
