Lol, I already knew that... So what?! They were hardly known. I don't get why they're trying to sabotage his chances now.
I never knew that he was in a boyband, not that it matters. Most contestants have links to the industry. The only novice that won was Leon Jackson.
This article is more likely to affect him if he's one of the contestants they're talking about. There's been rumours about him and Freddy Parker.

None of these people walk in from the street any more, they are all scouted.
It's been going on a while too - even Leona was already at a specialist performing arts and music industry school, and releasing underground dance and house singles, before showing up to audition and playing the part of a shy girl who sang around the house and didn't know how good she was. Firstly, that article was horribly written, so I would take it with a very large pinch of salt.
Also it's obvious that Freddy was gay so if this happens to actually be true then he'd be one of them. Though I doubt it's Matt they're writing about; if he's hooking up with anyone it's probably Nicole! I think the only other gay male in the show is the one with the storage hair in 5AM.
I should probably note that the guy from 5AM isn't confirmed gay but it's merely a hunch from my usually impeccable gaydar.

I noticed that he is very tactile with the member of 5 am who usually stands in the middle when the group are performing, and can actually sing.
The thing that I think will stop matt from being a big star is that he is very uncool. You only have to glance at his tweets to see he is a musical theatre and panto boy at heart, and very suburban. I know that sounds snobbish...

I didn't know he was in a boyband either. Why Matt has been hiding it? It shouldn't matter to people anyway. No big news there. But if he's in a gay relationship with Freddy that's really big news! If he's hiding boyband past maybe he's also hiding his gay relationship with Freddy. He should be open about everything like Saara.

This in my view is the best kind of winner. Leon was a 17 year old kid folding clothes in GAP and had only ever sang in his house or the local karaoke. No history of being in a boyband and no connections in the industry.The public warmed to him because he was the humble underdog.
This wont happen again sadly as it's now contrived sob story VT and heavy manipulation.
What a non-story if there ever was one! Which of the contestants DON'T have any previous experience, huh?
And is he really 'hiding' it or just hasn't mentioned it because it was a long time ago, the group only lasted like a second before splitting up and nothing happened, so it's just too irrelevant to talk about?

The way they've laid out the article it's clear who they are hinting at is involved. And if it were 2 that had already left the competition it wouldn't come out now.

Why does him being part of a boyband in his past mean that he couldn't possibly have decided to go and audition for the X Factor without anyone from the show contacting him first? The same for Leona as well. As the show says, anyone can audition for it. People who've been in the music business and aren't that well known might decide that they want their profile built up by trying to get as far as they can in this competition.

He was asked to audition by the producers themselves when he sang with Natalie Weiss in London in May..Matt even admitted it in a Spanish interview he did a couple of weeks ago.
You can be pretty sure anything XF related put out by The Sun has been orchestrated by SYCO due to the close working relationship between the two.
