For years the West had been quite happy to help China become the worlds workshop and factory, and buy their cheap stuff. Now China is flexing its Communist muscles and playing on Trump's inexperience. This could end very nastily unless cool heads prevail. It would not take much to provoke China-supporting North Korea to attack the South, and then the balloon would go up, and China might well have a go at Taiwan. And if Putin then made a move in the Baltic our tin-pot little forces would be very finely stretched. It doesn't bear thinking about. No more flat-screen tellies from China, or gas and coal from Russia. We would be deep in the dudu. Let's hope Mrs May keeps our lumbering Foreign Secretary out of sight.

One thing needs to made clear, The USA is capable of fighting and defeating china and russia at the same time. Russia does not have the logistics to fight a prolonged european war and china does not as yet have the will power to directly fight the USA.

What goes on between China and Taiwan is their business. It sounds like Taiwan wants to be independent so China will have to accept that unless they want to be aggressive. Meanwhile, Trump wants to trade with both countries with no pathetic 40-year diplomacy red tape getting in the way.
