...and you thought Clegg destroyed AN, is that partaking in normal conversation? I like to meet people at the level they demonstrate themselves.

That (Clegg "destroying" AN) clearly did not happen, AN argued the undeniable, Clegg denied and but, but, butted. I know what I saw... in this universe.
The destroyed word was a comment on the use of the word 'destroyed' in these sorts of posts. That's why I then said, destroyed seems to be the word now.

Anyway, I thought Clegg held his own. Taking a quote, out of context, from 8 months ago, and then saying 'see, you said that' isn't 'destroying' or even a good interview. It's lazy.

The final question from Neil around removing the word Democrat from Liberal Democrat was pathetic and Clegg dealt with it in exactly the appropriate way, by ignoring it.

BIB: There you go, that's the way to do it, but held his own does not necessarily equate to offering genuine response, sentiment or democratic agenda.

I am tempted to agree although I liked Neil's suggestion about removing the word Democrats from the party name.

Clegg was as deceitful and duplicitous as ever - claiming things with a straight face he knows cannot happen. I hope he makes good use of his EU pension - he has certainly earned that thirty pieces of silver.

And showing a quote from 8 months ago, out of context, does not necessarily equate to good interviewing or 'destroying' anyone.

He didn't ignore it - he wasn't quick enough to come up with a response before the end of the segment

He asked Neil what his point was.

That wasn't the only VT and the context was adequate and why are you carrying on with this 'destroying' narrative. Have I said there was any 'destroying' going on? You still seem to be pursuing winning a point (which isn't even there) rather than conversation? How very Clegg.

At least you don't disagree with the points you choose not to refer to or quote I suppose. I will take that as acceptance that Nick didn't actually do very well, repeating the same current Liberal anti-Brexit agenda, which is the polar opposite of generally talking proper reality that saw success in 2010. The Libs think this route will win them enormous support, but I don't think it will equate to much in the long run. They are alienating a lot of people who trusted them (Nick) in 2010 leaving some Labour and Tory remain voters to collect. The numbers will not be enough for meaningful recovery.

it was obvious what the point was! Clegg pretending he didn't understand because he didn't have a defence of the suggestion was a bit lame to be honest

Brillo is so narrow-minded on Brexit he isn't destroying anything apart from his own credibility.

Farron is an odious little pipsqueak.

There are little hotbeds of yellow support dotted around the country, though. Must be something in the water.
Must be like the Daily Mail juice and The Express sausages U-Tory-Kippers are so fond of gulping down.

You must have been watching a different programme. Clegg parried Nei's questions very well. It's certainly time, as Clegg said, that Neil stopped obsessing about what was said about the single market in the referendum campaign. We know that people say all kinds of things when campaigning - the ends justifying the means.

Well Clegg is a good example of a politician who says one thing before an election and does another afterwards.

But frankly if people were informed by ALL sides that if they voted for X then y would happen then it's not unreasonable y should be implemented.

Yes and they played back everyone who said we would be leaving the single market if the majority was for Leaving the EU, which it was; among them Leave campaigners but more importantly Cameron and Osborne who was on the Remain campaign.

Andrew Neil wiped the floor with Nick Clegg this morning on Sunday Politics he also wiped the floor with Diane Abbot.

Cheered my Sunday up no end.

Why does having a different opinion make people "academically challenged"?
Not sure, but to coin a phrase niceguy used about the Brexit clique on this site, the Remainer clique on this site seem to suggest that anyone that voted for Leaving the EU is somewhat academically challenged. So make of that what you will.

If you want my opinion, which I am sure you don't, I expect there was a cross section of society on both sides but I am only a simpleton that voted Leave.

I didn't, I thought Nick Clegg looked panic stricken and floundering, he had nothing of substance to say
He did.

The only thing Nick Clegg destroyed was his own political career. He simply did it in a more nuanced way than his grinning goon of a leader destroyed his.
He did.

If anyone thought Clegg did not fare well, what about the disaster of Abbott, she was dreadful?
Neil wiped them both out, I loved the way Abbott backtracked on immigration and then whoooosh there you talking about it another time

I am an Oxbridge graduate - and proud to be a supposedly thick, poorly educated, ill informed leave voter!

Yeah I always wondered what he was holding now I know; I expect Richard is fed up of being held.

Car Crash and Destroyed have probably been over used in 2016.

Andrew Neil is not is impressive as he used to be. He claims to have shown evidence to Nick Clegg that Leave were not campaigning to remain in the single market. And yet his own programme has featured video clips of Owen Patterson. A man who said we should retain membership of the single market. Who said only a madman would want to leave the single market.

Neil has shown the video of Daniel Hannan saying that nobody is talking about leaving the single market. Daniel Hannan was described on Newsnight (on Friday) as "The Godfather of the Leave campaign".

Neil has shown video of Farage advocating a Norway deal - in the single market.

Playing selective video clips works both ways. If Nick Clegg was pointing out that Leave were all over the place....and had no idea what Brexit means......and still have no idea......that is surely correct. That is what the evidence says..... does it not.

Your distortion of the truth is gobsmacking!

The clips you mention were put together by remain / softbrexit campaigners. Andrew Neil showed the clips in order to highlight how they were a complete distortion of the views of the people featured.

I recommend that people watch the clip and make up their own minds ...
